Reviews for La Bouchee
Should you miss France or look for good food, you can book La Bouchee. Unfortunately I did not like the service. I also consider that it is a little bit expensive...
Nobody is perfect, right?
Just love this place. Genuine French feel and classic French food. Coq au Vin is great.
People to often speak simply about the "French cuisine"; in fact, France is big and has many regions. Try to tell a Savoyard that you like French cheeses; or praise, even worse, in a Corsican restaurant the French wines - when it comes from Corsica...
The food is very good, the athmosphere is great, and, of course, the tables are quite close to each other... Ca c'est la France...
What to expect from a French restaurant in the French quarter of London? Good French food maybe... The contract is fulfilled: this is a Parisian-like restaurant with a decent menu even for the demanding Tricolores. Authentic recipes, no major twist, but you are not there for that, are you? The service is fine, not extraordinary, but we were there on a night where they had just recruited new staff.
I visited this restaurant for lunch on a Friday, and was very impressed overall. We ate from a delicious set menu that included a tomato salad to start and steak with chips for the main.
I have to say the steak was one of the nicest I've had in a fair while, and the chips were thin and crispy in the authentic French style.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was cosy, it could possibly be too cramped if you decided to visit with more than a few people. However, if you're looking for an authentic French restaurant to visit with a few friends in South Kensington, La bouchee would be ideal.
La Bouchee is an authentic small french restaurant in the heart of South Kensington. The atmosphere is good, it's intimate and cosy without being pretentious. The only small downside to this place is that Old Brompton road can be noisy and the tables are quite close together so not the best place if you're planning on having a break-up for example. And no I'm not talking from personal experience ;-)
The choice of meal is good and the pricing is your standard London ones.
