We went here a while ago, partly because friends who used to live in Ealing raved about it, and said that it was so special that they celebrated their wedding anniversary there every year. The other reason was that we got a leaflet with a special offer through the door!

I don't remember much about the food -- it was fine, but not particularly memorable. I do remember that we ate in the basement, which wasn't particularly appealing. It was quite squashed, and also dark (obviously).

Even with the special offer, the food was quite pricey. I haven't hurried back.

Charlottes Place is a small restaurant located across the road from Ealing Common. In has been full renovated in recent years and is now a stylish addition to the neighbourhood.

There is a small upstairs dining area and a larger downstairs area which is non-smoking and has a jazz pianist playing some evening. There are also a couple of tables outside if weather permits.

The main issue with the restaurant is that atmosphere is really lacking on quieter nights. There are usually loads of staff hovering around which can be annoying, but I guess it is better than being ignored.

It is not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but we have always found the quality of the food to be very good. The first time we dined there we shared the Chateaubriand which was very good, and a large serve (but overpriced). Since then we have had a couple more dinners and a Sunday lunch and enjoyed the food each time (though the Sunday Roast is better at The Grange next door!).
