Reviews for Saki Bar & Food Emporium

I agree with Mr Poolside. I just have to add a bit about the toilets! This is the only current public restaurant in the UK with japanese style toilets, as in toilets with water that squirt at you along with a air dryer. You can even adjust the heat and pressure! Be sure to go to Saki, even if it's just for the toilets! lol

Saki - Bar and Food Emporium is a very exciting place to have found virtually on my doorstep. Upstairs is a food store selling Japanese staples - didn't investigate this too much but will be back for a better look. Downstairs is where the action is - a sushi bar and restaurant in a single room - very stylish decor, lots of leather seating around the sides with a huge central square of bar seating. The place looks the part and the food also delivers in fine style.. although it doesn't come cheap. A very thorough menu runs an exhaustive selection of authentic Japanese dishes - as well as some more fusion items including a foie gras terriyaki..! Can highly recommend the lobster tempura and the sashimi was excellent - very fresh and cut perfectly for that melt in the mouth experience. The soft shell crab rolls were also heavenly. Nice selection of Sake - warm flasks and chilled bottles - there are no budget bottles however and the cheapest start at around £30. Service is efficient and friendly in the way that seemingly only Japanese places seem to achieve. Overall, this is a gem and can easily stand up to some of the better known (and even more expensive) alternatives. Miss at your peril.

I have read mixed reviews about this place. Do you think the fusion dishes are worth a try, or just stick to the more authentic ones?
