Reviews for About Thyme

Great quality food and service here. I really enjoy this restaurant and it deserves to be busier!

Not often I go for a full hat-trick but I have to say that About Thyme hit the spot.

The waiter was charming and for some reason all the other people in the restaurant seemed charming too. Maybe I was just in a good mood?

Anyhow, gravadlax marinated in beetroot juice, served with a tasty mustard sauce was simply yum (I'm salivating and I only ate 2 hours ago).

The mushroom risotto was truly excellent. Giant assorted wild mushrooms made this an absolute cut above. In fact, I cannot recall a better one.

Went here for Sunday Roast and had all this on the menu fixe. I'll be back...

[I ticked this as Italian, oops, what a plonker....it is of course utterly and 100% modern Spanish]

Six of us had lunch on a Thursday. The restaurant was not as busy, surprisingly, as the food and service and service were very good. The 2 course menu is 13.95, the three course 17.75, with 12.5% service on top. Wine is reasonable. We ended up spending less than 30.00 a head all in for a very good three course meal with wine. The menu is eclectic and caters to many tastes - I had smoked salmon with a scrambled egg accompaniment, quails (perfectly cooked, tender and moist) and finished up with a creme brulee. The proprietor was friendly and knowledgeable and the service well timed (although it is not a place for a quick lunch). I would readily go there again.

I have eaten here several times and enjoyed it every time. The menu has a spanish slant which gives everthing a slightly differnet and intersting appeal. They have a proper Jamon Serrano leg, so do have some as a pre-snack with olives!
Service is always very pleasant and on a sunny day you can sit by the full open front.

About Thyme is located in Pimlico - just a short walk from Victoria station.

Unassuming from the outside, the inside of the restaurant is extremely inviting - with warm lighting, candles everywhere, and a good amount of space. There is an upstairs as well with two additional rooms.. and the restaurant was still nearly full on a Wednesday night.

It is easy to see why - not only was the atmosphere so inviting, but the menu is faultless. You won't see anything too terribly out of the ordinary here, but everything is done so well. I had one of their evening specials, a cod dish which was cooked perfectly. My friends had the sea bass which was a whole fish, which did require salt.. and another had a lamb shank dish which was also very good. Nothing is too fussy - but everything prepared just right. Prices are decent - mains around 14-15 pounds. I also had the Tia Maria and Thyme Creme Brulee - however it tasted just like a regular creme brulee and I did not really taste the Tia Maria or Thyme... still was prepared perfectly, despite the subtlety of some ingredients.

If you are headed for the theatre or in the area, About Thyme would be an excellent choice for a nice dinner. Booking ahead is recommended.

Great place - and I promise I'm not just biased because they've chosen to decorate in my favourite colour!

The service was a little slow on the night I visited but the food was well worth the wait - delicious, full of flavour and well presented.
