Reviews for Electric Brasserie

A Notting Hill secret is that the Brasserie is better than the Electric Restaurant. The room is great - you move from the narrow crowded bar (at its best serving coffee on the pavement in the morning) past the open kitchen into a large slightly sunken space. It is buzzy, loud, and lots of fun. The menu is - being a brasserie - varied and changes often but offers choices from market-fresh fish to burgers and sandwiches to steaks to oysters. Service is efficient and while there is better food out there that's not why you come here: you come here to have fun, and you will. Prices are at the upper end of reasonable.

This place is pretty cool actually. And the staff are super helpful!

The menu is a diverse range of bistro dishes that includes some very fresh seafood - myself and my party were sat next t to the very live lobsters!

I ordered a rather fabulous 'light beetroot and hazelnut salad' - sounds hum drum and run of the mill, oh contraire! was a delight and LARGE! ( ok i 'supersized' my salad option) and as it was eaten not only by myself, but also tucked into by my dining partners, both ladies and gents alike, it was agreed that this (despite being based on leaves) was a very wholesome and unique meal in itself.

Other members of the party were tempted by goats cheese tart (very tart , petite, and 'just right' to spoil yourself with!) as well as some very 'posh' looking and tasting burgers complete with several round of chips to feast on!

The best thing about electric, is that it does live up to its name, all the 'trendies' of portabello and nottinghill are hill 'chillin out and relaxin' and adding to a rather electric (i know easy pun) atmosphere!

so stay feast amongst the fresh (and live) lobsters, maybe order one, or rescue one to take home , but whatever happens you wont be bored, and youll be spoilt for choice from the menu!

And don't get me started on the wine list; stupendous!

Well, almost. But the breakfast served at the brasserie is certainly very good, and the eggs benedict must be the best i have ever tasted! It has great ambience, with the staff allways friendly and helpful and have allways been so when I have dined there, though I have heard many stories of less than outstanding service in the evenings. A great place to eat after or before exploring Portobello road's famous market.

One evening we were going to the Electric Cinema to see Oceans 13. Before the movie we popped next door to the Electric Brasserie for dinner. I must admit to not expecting to enjoy the experience that much.... I thought perhaps this trendy place (on Portobello Road) had had its day....

Well, I was pleasantly surprised. When we arrived I was concerned about how noisy it was - thankfully we were lead to the restaurant area at the rear, which was much quieter than the bar area, though still a little too loud for relaxed conversation.

We had very friendly service throughout the evening, and the moodily lit room would have been perfect for a romantic meal, except that the tables were pretty close together and we ended up spending most of the meal chatting with the inebriated fellows from Leeds at the table next to us. I think they may have been "somebody", but I am hopeless with celebrity spotting.

Anyhoo, the food. Inspired by the pleasurable sighs from the table next to us, we ordered some oysters to share as a starter. They were huge and creamy delicious. For main course I had the Lemon Sole, served with samphire, and Alex had the Rib eye steak with chips and bearnaise sauce. Both meals were really enjoyable.

We still had some time before the movie started, so we decided to share dessert - a Chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream. Thank goodness we were sharing - this was one huge brownie - and delicious too!

I can't recommend this place highly enough. Whether you are on a date or with a group it always comes up trump. A fun lively atmosphere, hard working waiters, beautiful and fun people and nothing pretentious about it. The food is simple but delicious.

Part of the Electric Group (the brainchild of the owners of Soho House) the Electric Brasserie is lively, buzzing, seriously noisy and is open for breakfast, brunch and dinner.

I went for dinner mid-week, and although it's one of those places with timed sittings, the staff were charming and found us a seat at the bar when it was time to leave our table.

The menu is quite small, but reasonably priced with seafood a speciality. The steak was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, although it did take quite a while to get a drink.

There's a seriously well-stocked bar staffed by super professional barmen. It was a great place to wind down after a hard day and left me really energised. Looking forward to going back soon.
