    Las mehores tapas en Londres

Superb tapas made with excellent ingredients - just like Fino the sister restaurant.

This establishment shows the many Spanish owned establishment in the UK how it should be done i.e no tinned Russian Salad :-)

Comparable to the best tapas bars in Barcelona, Seville , Madrid and San Sebastian.

    Nice wine and starters

Barrafina is a nice place. It was too busy to eat when I went so I just had some good red wine and a few starters... stuffed olives and ham (the famous jamòn serrano).
The bill said £31 for the 2 of us... I wouldn't call it cheap but you can't demand too much if you go in a pretty trendy place in the heart of Soho, can you?

    Did i say rip-off?
    Current
Not that the food is bad, in fact is is quite decent although not exceptional, but the whole thing is the biggest rip-off in London, period.

The quality and the preparation are good, the sizes are tiny and the tapas come and go being pushed to you so you move on for the next one, so the service, although friendly is clearly trying to get you moving and the overall experience is that you have been analy raped by a gang of huge russian bearded men.

I must say i prefer to call it Barracara (expensive bar) rather than Barrafina.

I forgot something.. Salt Yard is much better and i believe i can judge it based on the fact i am Spanish.

A real hommage to Cal Pep

As far as I'm concerned, Barrafina has no direct competition in London. The food is excellent, service very food, the location ideal, and the lack of comfortable seating keeps the non-serious eaters away and the serious ones from settling in for too long.

    But we keep coming back!

The menu options are wide-ranging, with a strong bias towards grilled and flash-fried seafood. It also appears to be seasonal, always a good thing.

Since it's a tapas restaurant, how much your final bill will be really depends on how much of a glutton you are. My girlfriend and I tend to order quite a bit, but spend on average about 100-120 for both of us, including two bottles of cava. Even the cheaper wines are excellent here and nothing tastes better with this food than a bit of the bubbly.

The things that stand out for me about this place is the food and the service. It really does make a great difference if you have friendly waiters/waitresses who actually are very knowledgeable on both the wine and the food. I also think it helps their jobs quite a bit if the actual drinks and food being served is decent and the food and drink at this place is pretty damn good. The seating is very similar to a sushi bar where you sit facing the kitchen and watching the cooks prepare the meals. I always find that there is something extremely reassuring about this. However, this means that the restaurant is not really set up for large groups of people. This is more something to be aware of than a flaw. Also be aware that a meal for two with a decent bottle of wine would set you back about £60 - £70 so not really within the cheap and cheerful range of tapas but is definitely excellent value for money.

    Fantastic food!

There's not much seating, so if you are a big group or an odd number of people there may be a bit of a wait. That said the staff are really friendly and will happily get you drinks and nibbles to wile away your wait.

As for the food, we ordered lots of dishes which came in no particular order. All were just lovely, and very fresh. The tortilla was a revelation, served in it's own dish, straight from the hot plate, so was hot and just set so very moist - yum! Where we were sat we could see all the dishes (including ours) being cooked, which was interesting to watch.

For once none of us were drinking, but the wine list had some great wines listed. Will definitely being going back for more food, and this time washed down with a nice cold Albarino!

Great place to eat, really delicious, fresh food. If you are close check their webcam before you go to see what the seat situation is like.

I'd heard about Barrafina on the grapevine, all very good reports, but had never got round to going along. Then one day Mr Lucy suggested we pay it a visit - he even knew that to get a seat at the bar straight away (you can't book), we should go along on a Saturday afternoon around 5pm. I was impressed, and not just by his planning skills.

We got the last two seats at the bar which is open planned to the kitchen so you if you have a curious streak like me you'll enjoy watching everything being cooked fresh and from scratch. Right in front of us was the fresh fish on ice display, not my thing but I could appreciate the quality and variety of what was on offer. We ordered a range of tapas, all of which came as and when they were ready and were absolutely delicious. The lamb chops are perhaps the most tasty I've ever had. So good in fact that once we finished one round we ordered another straight away!

By the time we'd sampled as much of the menu as we could possibly manage there was quite a queue of people waiting to take our place. Now to the matter of the bill. Considering the quality of the food, it was well worth it. I can't recommend this place enough - next time you're in Soho pop in and see if you can grab a seat at the bar.
