I am a french businessman coming each months in London for 2 or 3 working days. After a lot of tries, my best adress for a short lunchtime with business partners, or an intimate dinner with a local friend is: Le Colombier in Chelsea !!

The good bits, that is! I love the atmposphere of this smart but simple Chelsea 'local' (ie where the locals themselves eat). The crowd often know each other but it's not fussy-smart and not at all pretentious. Part conservatory, part worn-wooden floored, it feels light and welcoming. The staff - all French - and the cooking - straightforward and of a high standard - are exactly what you hope to find in Paris, but often don't!
