good food and Beck's Vier (yes, again)
Canal 125 is the kind of pub I like - it has a bit of variety in what it offers to you as a venue...
You can eat outside beside the canal, or use the private rooms upstairs, including cushioned corners and a balcony overlooking, erm, Caledonian Road. Or you can stay inside downstairs and enjoy the long bar, wooden floors, and good food (I'm a sucker for big mirrors, and they've got a real crowd-pleaser in there).
The selection of beers is unchallenging but good, and almost any other drink is available, including good coffee.
The food is cheap but expensive, and generally yummy. Fish pie is excellent (ceamy, with plenty of chunky fish and seafood), and the beef burgers are popular. The slightly more refined corn fed chicken with chorizo, roasted peppers and artichokes is very good too.
Never crowded, but often busy. Even if it's deserted though, the vibe is still good. Staff are friendly and helpful, even if they do slightly unnerve me by taking big orders without writing anything down.
