    What's with the staff?
    Current
This is the second time I have gone to this restaurant and I will never go back.
I thought the food was decent and this place was right around the corner from
the theatre we went to, so I brought my husband and in-laws to Myung Ga for
a late dinner. First of all, the staff is very aloof and bordering on rude most of
the time. I am a Korean-Canadian, living in London and I could hear every word
they were saying and I felt they were very tacky in talking about the customers
as they were flocking around the bar area. When they bring the food, they are
abrupt, rude and can't even muster a phony smile when they are cutting your
kimchi or mixing our bbq meat on the grill. We politely said we were fine
grilling it ourselves (is that a crime? in fact, doesn't that mean less work for
them?) and they said nothing, walked away and then pretty much ignored us
the whole night, not offering any more drinks (we had to signal someone down
to get more beer) or even bringing us the bill after having sat there for 1/2 an
hour after they cleared our table. The worst part was when I went down to the
bathroom and one of our waitresses ran out of a stall very angrily, slammed the door and then two other staff
members came in and giggled away while they tried to open my stall by
mistake. When I stepped out, they didn't do anything but giggle and continue
to be rude. I just didn't understand this lame and unappealing behavior in a
restaurant. Furthermore, two of the dishes (gyoza and korean pan cake) should
be avoided at all costs. It was about 6 pounds 50 for a 3 bites of each and
it was a joke of a dish (called 'green bean pan cake with absolutely zero green
beans and enough to feed a 2 year old if you're lucky). The rest of the meal
was good, although expensive, but the service (or lack of) is inexcusable at
a place that charges so much for their food and service. Overall, there are
many amazing Korean restaurants in London - this one should be avoided
unless you feel like spending double and being strangely under the scrutiny
of the staff. Not a good experience and I would never go back.

There were quite a few korean people there which is instantly a good sign.

The service is good although the staff weren't amazing at english. There were ten of us so our dishes kept getting mixed up when they came because they told us the name of the dish in korean! lol

Another thing is, they started cooking the meat on the bbq before it was hot which annoyed me as a chef and the waitress kept turning it loads of times. (This probably doesn't apply to other ppl I suppose!)

Anyway, the fried dumplings were really tasty with a light crispy skin and a delicious dipping sauce. The bulgogi is by far one of the best dishes - tender pieces of beef marinaded to perfection. Beware of the spicy dishes, when it states it's spicy on the menu, it will burn your mouth!!

There are some more adventurous and traditional dishes such as raw skate in a spicy sauce and beef calves served in the traditional way.

I would suggest going with several ppl so that you can get a few of the larger dishes (such as the mixed barbeque meats, hotpots for 2+, mixed starter) and just share them.

Think I'll be going back soon :D

    Korean restaurant in London
    Current

I've finally found a real authentic Korean barbeque restaurant in London. The food was very fresh and the customer service was well above decent. The place definitely has something going on. There was a bunch of pictures in the homepage and it seems like a lot of celebrities have been here.
You'll definitely enjoy dining here, especially if you are looking for a Korean cuisine experience that is somewhat different from the rest yet still authentic.
Suntofu, spicy Korean soft tofu soup with seafood, is the specialty here, the accompanying egg should be cracked into the broth while it's still boiling. Korean food lovers come here solely for the eats.

    Try a Korean BBQ

You know you are in a good Korean place when you can find a lot of Koreans eating there. Well, that is what I found in Nyung Ga.
Here you can have a BBQ in the table, but don't worry, the waiter will cook it for you! And lots of soups and vegetable dishes too.
The place might become a bit smoky with the BBQs, but all in all it is worth trying.
