Reviews for Paolina Thai Cafe
Ok so as soon as you walk past this place you would normally keep on going, it looks dirty and horrid and awful. I didn’t have this choice as I was supposed to meet someone here (not suggested by me!) I was led downstairs (even worse) to a small area with tables and benches and plastic table cloths. I thought a drink would help only to be told their was no liquor licence!!! The food was actually ok and I didn’t die of food poisoning either, I had fully expected to get quite ill! I have no idea why they don’t tidy/clean this place up after all the business rates must be high so how do they make ends meet! if you are looking online (you must be or you wouldn’t be reading this!) then don’t go here, its just not nice. Search for another thai place instead
I have to totally agree with the previous reviewer. By all appearances Paolina looks like the kind of place that you might be best avoiding - not the cleanest of establishments. However, the food in this friendly family-run local is great. Pad thai is tasty and full of flavour but the Tom Yum Soup is the real killer. A real sinus-opening event! It's great for lunch - although seating is a bit cramped and limited, but they also do take-aways. A great filling lunch for under a fiver!
My only criticism would be a word of warning for anyone un-lucky enough to be pushing a pram (or other wheeled transport) in this part of London. It is practically impossible to get up and through the door and the seating area (with the exception of 1 table in the front window)is on a lower level down a further few steps.
appearances ARE deceptive in the case of Paolinas. This charmingly shabby little cafe does a mean Pad Thai. The staff are ultra friendly, if your return a few times they will remember you and your favourite dinner which is always nice. And to top all that Paolina's is a BYO, and there aren't many of those around town where the food is worth eating.

I don't know why, but that place seems to have something to it, but you do need to get passed that dodgy entrance. Will give it a try very soon.
