Momo restaurant with its Middle Eastern atmosphere is a must for escapists. There is a Moroccan culinary style which is popular with the locals and a party feel to the place - the staff will even belly dance to the music if it is someone's birthday. The bar is for members only. Booking is advised.

a bit of Maghreb in London
Overall, our experience at Momo's was very good.
The athmosphere is great although a bit noisy at times (background music), but the service is very friendly and efficient.
We took the sea food Tagine and Momo's couscous. The semolina was light, the veg were etremely tasty and the lamb perfectly cooked.
There is also a nice selection of Moroccan wines; the one we chose (Cabernet ... cannot remember the name!) was excellent!
The only little thing I did not like was the fact that you have to leave a credit card in order to secure the reservation of the table which really surprised me ... even 3 star Michelin restaurants do not do that, and you have the table for 2 hours. I wonder if they would have kicked me out after 2 hours!

good food, poor service
The place is very understaffed so even a glass of water takes 30 minutes. The food is pretty good, and they have an interesting selection of both virgin and alcoholic cocktails.

Momo's tea room
An additional review i know, but i went to the tea room for the first time.
Shame it was raining otherwise it would have been nice to sit outside. I had the virgin momo as per normal and my friend had some strawberry cocktail which seemed to be liked. The decor is very moroccan which was great. However the seating can be tight and really tough to get around the table. I was lucky that i got the table near the door so there was room to sit properly. The service was slow when it got more busy and i had to eventually put my arm up to call the waitresses which i hate doing but it was the only way to get their attention. The staff were friendly though despite the hand waving! Otherwise loved the place as normal and love my momo drink.
Great for a relaxing meet up with friends even if its a tad more expensive than your local pub.

Great atmosphere, the staff are all friendly and they try to give you a booking even if full up. Food is great especially the tagines and the virgin momo is brilliant for a non alcoholic drinker.Love the atmosphere and reminds me of the middle east every time.

Posh North African
Update: went there recently (Oct 07), and it seems they listened and changed their staff in the tearoom, a lot friendlier! About time! all for the best, well done HR ;)
-----------------------------------------
I used to really like Momo when it first opened. Very few people knew about it and its small tearoom was a cool place to hang out. Decorated with North African objects ranging from traditional low tables, chairs, carpets, lamps, books and even clothes and jewellery (some of which is actually on sale ? at exorbitant tourist prices of course). The music's cool. Oriental Buddha bar style music. Very chilled out. You could spend hours there sipping your cinnamon and pine nut mint tea, except that as it grew famous, it became too crowded and rather pretentious (the waiters can be incredibly snooty ? it might be their attempt at recreating a Parisian caf頡tmosphere :)). That's the tearoom part. Next door, you have the restaurant. The food when I went was really nice (fantastic couscous), and the decoration follows a stylish modern North-African design. The prices are quite high but still worth it for a special dinner (as long as the chef hasn't changed since). The place also has a club, which I've never tried. But it doesn't look easy to get into if you don't know the management. I would have given it a 4 star if it wasn't for the pretentiousness of the place. Change the waiters and you'd get a really cool place. Don't let that put you off though. You should try it out at least once if you've never been. It's just off Regent street so very central.
