Reviews for St Pancras Grand, St Pancras International Station

I went to the Grand last Friday for a business networking lunch. We had a set menu and I chose betroot salad and pigeon in a port sauce with celery and chestnuts.
The salad was miser and the pigeon was a dark colour on the outside and raw on the inside. A few differently chopped pieces of celery accompanied the pigeon and I think I counted 3 small chestnuts with it.
I would go back for the decor as I find it's a beautiful place but I would eat elsewhere.

With it's champagne bar outside, complete with bar stools to perch on, St Pancras Grand is everything a station restaurant should be. A little difficult to find though. Light and airy, the place exudes long lunches, the only problem I'd say is the likelihood of missing your train by relaxing so much.

Having said that, the service was lapse. The waitress wanted to take the food order within a minute of me sitting down. She brought the wine quickly but for the rest of the lunch failed to fill up the glasses (it was perched in a bucket tantalising out of reach) and we had to keep getting the boss man to do it for her. Seemed to be many staff hovering around looking at lists and doing nothing much else.

The food I had wasn't great. I chose steak tartare and a green salad, which, lets face it, shouldn't be difficult. It was edible, but then I like raw meat. It had no seasoning that I could detect, and could've done with plenty of black pepper and maybe chopped gherkin mixed into what was basically a raw burger with a raw egg on top. The green salad had no discernable dressing so pretty much just raw leaves.

But I had a lovely lunch with a friend, the restaurant itself provides a great back drop, but it was pretty empty and we could've been put at a better table.
