22 Charterhouse Square, London, EC1M 6DX

Located down a quiet mews off peaceful Charterhouse Square, Le Cafe du Marche offers a pleasant sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the Square Mile. Inside, the popularity of this long established eatery means that it is constantly full. Conditions are cramped, but this does little to detract from the authentic French fare being served. Also popular at night when a live pianist plays. Booking is essential. Catering for private parties of up to 65 guests is available upon request.

Reviews for Le Cafe du Marche

One of my favourite pieces of France in London. The cafe has a fantastic prix fixe menu and is great value. It is tucked away in Charterhouse Square down a short lane way next to Malmaison.

On a recent visit I had the Salade Périgourdine which included fois-gras, lardons, walnuts and black truffle oil and was as you might expect exceptional. It was a perfect introduction for my regular Côte de boeuf.

They also have an exceptional bottle of Barbera Negro on the wine list and if you like a deep, dark, taninic red, this is your wine.
