we come here on a regular basis and always have a great experience! the food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed, the decor kitch and fun, and the bill always surprisingly small! what more could you want?

I first visited LMNT in 2002 and was impressed. I made my 1st return visit to this Hackney restaurant in January 2009, and am still impressed. Set in a suburban residential street on an all night bus route this old pub has been transformed in to London's most crazily decorated eating house. Ancient Egyptian themed from the outside, but with all types of decor inside, from classical Greek to medieval and English hunting and Tutenkahmen the place is a feast for the eyes. Tables are spread high and low, access by ladder in some places. The menu is also a mixture of styles, mostly poultry, game and fish, but not your normal dishes. A specials board offered the only steak, but I had a very fine pheasant en croute from the al la carte menu. All the food was well prepared and the staff are knowledgable and attentive. The bill was very reasonable at about £65 for 3 courses for 2 with apero and wine and coffee.
Prudes should avoid visiting as the lavatories are highly decorated in an unusual style.

It's unlikely you'd stumble upon this place by accident, as it's on a fairly mundane residential street and looks like a decrepit local pub you'd hesitate to step into, but wow... imagine what a surprise awaited.

Inside the place is decked out in a lavish and not a little camp way, with open fire roaring between the paws of a lion. There are a number of unusual alcoves, including a 'pod' which seats 4, and little eyeries at the top of a staircase.

The food is good, and reasonalby priced, although portions could be a little more generous. Dishes are mainly French inspired with a few daily specials. The house wine is fine also. Toilets feature murals not recommended for the ultra-prudish! A fun place for a very unusual night out, worth booking in advance at weekends.

Easy to miss from the outside (it looks like a pub), LMNT is amazingly decked out in what seem to be leftover theatrical props, with an Egyptian slant. The little hideaway tables up stairs are amazing too. So this place has plenty of character. The food is wonderful here. We went on a sunday lunchtime and my companion had the roast dinner and said the beef was the best she's ever tasted. I had pan fried sea bream and that was excellent too. The starters and desserts were also well presented. Everything is very reasonably priced (you'd pay three times as much in the West End for the same food), and the service is also excellent. Highly recommended, just watch out for the sexily decorated toilets!
