The Butcher & Grill

Reviews for The Butcher & Grill

Fantastic meat. The sausages, bacon and black pudding in my full English breakfast sorted out the remnant of the Saturday night excesses.

Our group had all kinds of things from soup to eggs benedict, but I felt pretty smug with my full English. It was a struggle to leave without spending a fortune on raw meat in the butcher's shop that you walk through to get from the street to the restaurant.

Highly recommended.

This restaurant is a great idea - basically the front of the restaurant is a genuine butchers while the back has tables for eating.

Anything you order off the menu comes straight from the butchers out front and to the kitchen which means that you can order pretty much any cut of meat you like and the quality is superb.

When I went I ordered a rib of beef (a dish to share between 2) and it was the best beef I've ever had. Tender and delicious!

The rib of beef was quite expensive (£50 between 2, but there was no need for starters!!) but there are cheap dishes on the menu - the main course of pork chop was only £9 including hand-made chips so you could certainly eat here on a budget if you wanted. Or just buy the meat from the front and cook it at home!

Highly recommended - definitely looking to go back there.

PS - they also open 8.30 on a saturday for traditional breakfast which I think would be a very tasty way to start the weekend.
