Reviews for Moti Mahal
I'd never heard of this place till I saw it on a list of places doing deals and, curiosity piqued, I checked it out on a few sites. All gave it the thumbs up so we headed there for a very unusual Burns Night special - 5 course dinner with a different whisky for each course for £40 a head.
The food was very good - and there had obviously been a lot of care and attention gone into the pairings. The room is wonderfully glamourous in an understated kind of way and the service is very good indeed. When they ask what you thought of a dish they really want to know the answer.
Will definitely go again, the cheap lunch deal sounds like a steal.
I have to say this is a very nice restaurant. It had a really good atmosphere when we were there, and I agree that the staff were a credit to themselves and their profession. If only all waiters were this efficient and helpful. The food was of high qaulity in addition. This is normally a good combination in a restaurant, but that combined with relatively cheap prices, means this is a curry house we will return to regularly. They also had a nice wine list, and my partner said the beer was good too. Good decor and lighting created a lovely ambiance and it actually felt a little romantic. Very much recommended.
This place really delivers on both originally and taste with an excellent modern menu and exquisitely spiced dishes that are full on flavour and diversity. All in the heart of the West End as well - with it's more than average array of banal over-priced eateries.
I have been on several occassions and have always found them to be friendly, bordering on witty, which is infinitely better than staid polite service. If you want to test a restuarant, go on a busy night with a decent sized party. There were 7 of us and we had several dishes to share as well as the usual miscellany of naan breads, accompianments (the creamed black lentils are hugely moreish) etc and all were of an exceptional standard. The fish was deleicately spiced and the Boar Curry was just the right side of "humming" in the heat stakes...
Lets's be honest - this place is not cheap for "A La Carte" but the food justifies this. There are terrific offers though on fixed menus - the £10 lunch is an absolute steal...
