Reviews for Planet Hollywood
I actually quite enjoy myself at Planet Hollywood despite the fact that the prices were over the top!
The whole restaurant has a great vibe to it and is decorated in lots of memorabilia from some of the best know films. When you walk from the reception to the tables you walk down a red carpet which I guess was pretty cool. There was also a giant cinema like a screen which played some of the latest music videos.
Staff were pleasant and they do make you feel welcomed and if your lucky(or unlucky!) you'll end up on the big screen!
Planet Hollywood is the best restaurant you can choose when you are looking to eat out but want to experience something a little different from usually ordinary restaurants. The atmosphere is fantastic and restaurant itself is out of this world! As you enter through the doors your walk straight into their shop but go up the stairs and you'll be greeted and treated like a celebrity and get to walk down the red carpet to the seating areas. Everywhere you look there's memorabilia from lots of the most iconic films and a huge cinema TV screen to entertain you whilst you eat. Be sure to smile when you see your face on the big screen! A bit expensive but perfect for a meal to remember!
Planet Hollywood is a very touristy place and it is aimed at families with children.
Inside it is full of props from the movies like a life size model of the Terminator and a leather jacket from Grease. There are over 200 items of film memorabilia inside the restaurant. They have a live DJ but I think it is only at weekends.
The restaurant looked like it needed doing up and it isn't the smartest place to eat. The service was really slow but when the food arrived it wasn't dissapointing. I ordered a burger and chips and the portion was very generous. Burger and chips costs about £13
We had a very late dinner there once, which is great since most other restaurants close much earlier (I think they’re open till 2 am, but I’m not sure). The quality of food was excellent. It wasn’t an imaginative menu or anything – it’s all American, but it was cooked really well.
The décor is inspired by Hollywood blockbusters and there are loads of props on display. There are several areas for seating, although when we were there most people were seated in the central section in front of the huge screen on which they had music videos. Most of the selection was pretty good although some of the videos wouldn’t be suitable for kids (I would think) as they were quite explicit.
The good: as you would want from any American food venue, they have good burgers with plenty of options to choose from. The theme of Hollywood stars also makes an interesting environment with various figures of Arnie and Bruce, but after a while it can get boring. The table service is quick and helpful, offering you many of the varieties, if not just to encourage you to take all the options.
The bad: it’s quite overpriced at a minimum of around £10 for burger. It’s also a bit on the touristy side and pretty noisy with various party rooms surrounding the dining area.
This is the place to go to for that special treat of an evening out. Walking in is almost like walking into a film set because the place is covered in all sorts of film memorabilia. You actually find that it almost turns into a conversation stopper because you keep catching sight of new items and saying ‘Oh that the jacket from such and such that thingy wore…….!!!” etc.
The place generally has a real feel good factor about it and it was very busy when we went there. We did actually manage to walk in off the street to get a table, but they do recommend you pre-book. Food wise is good and service is very quick – surprising when it was so busy. We both had the Shrimp Fajitas which were fantastic.
Prices are expensive, but you are in Piccadilly Circus in London in a celebrity themed restaurant. What did you expect?
Nice atmosphere and you should try it the once but....(and there is quite a few)
if you have tried the one in america it doesnt compare
They wont change the menu enough to acomadate fussy eaters.
There is always a hell of a que (upto a couple of hours)so book in advance.
The servers are so busy you will have to wait for refils and the bill ect
it is very expensive
on the other side though the atmosphere is great.
its great for before or after the theater and everything is nearby
and i would jump at the chance of eating here rather than the rainforest cafe
Just got back from a trip to London; 2 adults and 2 children aged 9 and 10. Made a reservation a few days before going, which I would suggest you do as it was very busy. We were taken straight to our table in a Bond Room with various props from the Bond films. In the main section was a massive screen which as well as playing music videos and film clips often panned round the customers pointing out peoples birthdays... by a live dj. In the Bond section there was 3 smaller screens. The food did take a while to arrive which we were made aware of when booking the table. The portions were very big and at the lower end of expensive but one thing I noticed which would make it a very cheap day out was people around us handing over Tesco vouchers to pay for their meals! Have looked since and you can change tokens over to use within 6 months of ordering them! The kids meals were inclusive of a drink and dessert and were under £10. The adults paid around £15 and £2 for soda. Would recommend this place to any families going to London for a few days. Be aware the tip is automatically added to your bill at 12.5% which was ok for us as we usually do 10% anyway but some people may prefer to choose how much they give. Staff were very friendly and overall really good few hours spent there.
Save your cash and go to hardrock cafe instead
amazing place to go!!
great atmosphere, great food
carefully not to order too much though, because you do get america size portions!
cool memrobilia all over the room from classic films
