Reviews for Rodizio Rico

My friends raved about this place, but I was a bit let down by it overall. Firstly, the price: its pretty expensive really, and yes at the beginning I'm sure everyone says to themselves 'I'm really going to stuff my face and get my money's worth' but in reality, this rarely happens. For me £22 plus service was a little steep.

Secondly, the service. We waited about 20 minutes, then finally managed to flag someone down to order a drink. The meat is brought round continually, and to be honest it get's a little annoying having to say no thanks, no thanks, no thanks every couple of minutes when they try to give you more and more meat.

Thirdly, the food. It was ok, but nothing great and at £22 a head you do expect it to be better quality. The buffet bar with salads and vegetable dishes was a little lacklustre. There was a good choices of dishes, but nothing I had really stood out. It was so-so. The meat was quite good, but as I mentioned, I definitely didnt get my moneys worth! There are only so many chunks of steak you can eat!

And one final point is the wastage. The waiters are so keen to offload some of their meat onto your plates that they end up giving far more than you can eat, and we ended up with a pile of spare bits at the end. I'll probably not be going back unless my friends talk me into it again!

Upper street is one of my favourite places to hang out and seeing a restaurant get such good reviews I set out to having dinner there. The word 'buffet' was also music to my ears.

We opted for the meat buffet.
The starter/side dish buffet was really good with a large variety, ...so we couldn't wait for the meat.

...and this is where the disappointment started.

The meat was tasteless and nearly always medium/rare cooked. Unfortunately for us, we like our meat well done. The way the restaurant operates, you don't get to have a say on how you like your meat cooked or which one you'd like to have.

Yeah, the meat was offered to us endlessly and could have fed 10 of us, but it's not always about quantity it's also about quality.

...and for £22 a head, I can't see myself going back.

I like a challenge. I also like meat. And I particularly like meat that never ever stops being brought to your table until you're practically retching. All things considered, I haven't the faintest idea how this place manages to stay open, what with the criminally vast amounts of dead things they serve for the price of... well, a decent steak somewhere else. It's mostly good, particularly the chicken hearts, but they do seem to have made the most of some sort of salt bonanza that nobody else heard about, because that's the main, possibly the only seasoning, on the limitless amounts of beef, chicken, lamb, bla bla bla that just won't stop coming please make it stop it hurts I want to not eat any more but OOH fillet steak!

I am as ever a fan of the simple formula, and the compound known to science as the churrascaria (i may have spelled that wrong) is as simple as H20, if H is "hot lordy god will they never stop bringing more meat to the table on hot skewers" and O is "Oh there's a limitless salad bar that's actually quite good".

Eat the black bean stew, avoid the chips, wait till the lamb arrives, and then book yourself in for colonic irrigation and a course of rehydration. But in a good way.

And the caipirinhas are excellent.

Not 5 stars, but only because they had no picanha. Look it up.

Since writing an earlier review about the Bayswater Rodizio, I decided to visit the one in Islington, I have to say, with delight, that this was so much better.

The salad bar, and hot food buffet counter, was filled with a number of delightful offerings, from a meaty chilli, to Salmon salad.

I had a lovely bottle of Chauteu Neuf de Pape for a mere £30, and in Islington, it was just £21.oo a head for the barbeque, the meat kept coming, and all very nice cuts of Picanha, and Alcatra, two fine steaks from Brazil..

This time I wasnt left wanting, as the guys were coming round with more and more meat, one waiter said they were trying their best to keep us, as they had heard that top Brazilian Chuhascaria Porqoan will be coming to London very soon!!
Competition will be great, two lovely Rodizio brands vying for our buisiness. It will simply be magic..

After a freezing day in Trafalgar Square on the now infamous Olympic Relay day last week, and after hearing passionate stories about this place by a friend who, errm, "eats well," and after walking an extra 25 minutes (Angel station was closed!) I was on my picky mood and were expecting more than just an ordinary food and service...

Well, I'm happy to say that Rodrizio Rio did satisfy me perfectly! And that doesn't happen in just any restaurant, I can assure you.

Apart from the expensive price tag (£26 Meat and Seafood) and the fact that the seafood was NOT eat as much as you can like meat, I found nothing wrong. I will recommend this place to everyone, including vegetarians (the buffet was one of the best I have had in London).

I took my boyfriend here last May for his birthday. I chose it stricty because he's a lover of meat so I thought - All you can eat meat - can't go wrong! I was right, you will not get fed up of the waiters bringing endless amounts of food to your table to tantilise your tastebuds - there is a cart with a huge range of vegetables, pasta, salad and other delicacies - however go easy on the carbs or you won't be able to eat your meat! There is a seafood option for an extra £5 which I would avoid as it's not worth the money - stick to the meat!

I am a great carnivore, and was looking forward to this.

While the meat was ok, it was nothing to write home about. If you are expecting piles of juicy steaks, high-quality cuts of meat, you won't really find it. What you will find is somewhat salty cuts of meat, none particularly wonderful.

And don't expect them to be rushing you with the good stuff, despite the price, this is NOT a decadent place where you'll have a plate piled high with filet steal and having to push the waiter away while he brings you more - instead expect waits while you try and get the waiter to bring you the better meats. And considering it's supposed to be a buffet they don't really cut that much meat, seems that they grudge giving it out. Shame that they penny pinch.

Still, the accompanying buffet is actually one of the nicest I've had, and if it was a bit cheaper, I'd go often.

Very crowded and noisy, great atmosphere. All the food is outstanding .Great value at £18.

Food was wonderful. Took my boyfriend here for a birthday meal. Food was plentiful. Cocktails were wonderful. Atmosphere was great. A man can do no wrong being taken to a restaurant where meat, meat, meat is served. Skip the seafood option though - for an extra £5 per person you're given one serving of paltry seafood. Stick to the meat and buffet. Don't come here if you want a quiet romantic evening. It's not that kind of restaurant!

Just like its sister restaurant in Notting hill Rodizio Rico is a churrascarias, or BBQ in true Latin American style. For £19.00 each we had an all you can eat salad buffet and great hunky Brazilian men coming to our table on a regular basis with huge skewers of succulent meat…. Leg of lamb, beef, with cuts from silverside to picanha, (the heart of the rump), pork, chicken thighs and chicken wings. It's not cheap but its good value especially if you stick to the good buffet eating rule of nothing fizzy and minimize carbs…

I had my authentic Brazilian critic with me (plus a Frenchie and Slovenian for good measure), and he was well impressed. Getting us in with wait staff, who were gorgeous, helpful and efficient. We sat right next to the grill so got the first cut from the fresh skewers.

Another first was my experience with chicken hearts, a musky tender meat that's as moreish as oysters. But my favourite had to be the beef with cheese. Reminiscent of my favourite Japanese yakatori skewer, it was just so juicy! Sitting around the medium rear mark... perfect. The salad bar was so lush that I wouldn't have any qualms about bringing my vegetarian friends. There is a vegetarian buffet price option at £13.00 with hot and cold vegetarian dishes on offer in the salad bar. My favourite from the salad bar has to be the creamed sweet corn, and I don't even like sweet corn usually!

In the drinks department there's killer caipirinha's though the sangria was a little expensive for what it was, I'd recommend going for drinks somewhere before hand and just concentrate on the eating here.

It's a large space with lots of room for groups and as a group of 4 we just walked in on a Thursday without a booking, and didn't have to wait. Its reasonably formal compared to the usual Brazilian experience with the waiters all in tidy black, and a matrie'd at the door.

I'd definitely go back here and recommend it to anyone. And I forgot to mention for £24.90 you can add seafood wondewrs such as tiger prawns to your all you can eat option.
