Reviews for Vineyard
We had dinner here recently, and it was delicious. We all opted for the Meze, so couldn't tell you about the other mains, but it was all delicious. Presentation was unfussy on metal platters and simple chinaware, and it was all delicious, really tasty. Service was rapid, friendly and unobtrusive, which was great (a lot of Italian and Greek places tend to ham it up a bit, which is funny the first time but grates a bit over time). The only slight negative was the very repetitive instrumental greek music, which felt a bit like lift music after the first half hour.
The house white wine is fantastic, less than a tenner a bottle and really pleasant to drink.
We had a great evening here, waddled out absolutely stuffed and spent under £25 a head. Recommended.
I am of Greek decent and we know a good Greek when we find one! Because of that my family has dined here about once a month since it opened – we don’t even look at the menu anymore as its dishes are as familiar to us as any of our homemade favourites! We make the place our first choice because we are always met with enthusiasm and treated wonderfully by all the staff who know us so well – they even start to prepare our drinks before we have ordered them! This restaurant is an extension of my families dining room table and I encourage you all to go so it will stay open and prosperous forever, that way I can take my children there as I was taken there as a child.
Απολαμβάνω (Enjoy!)
In the heart of Camberwell lies this family owned greek restaurant that has been there since 1974. The ceiling of the interior is covered with vines which makes it pretty intimate and special. They also have a few outdoor tables for the summer.
They offer traditional greek dishes such as moussaka, kebabs, kleftico and a whole load of greek starters. If you want to try a good mixture of different dishes, you can get their meze (£14.00 per person) and you get 8 starters for the 1st course, 6 dishes for the 2nd course and 4 dishes for the 3rd course. I'm usually pretty stuffed by the end of the 2nd course! It's great!! Extremely good value for money.
If you don't want to go for that, a few of my favourites are:
Sheftalies - Minced lamb & pork with onions, parsley and spices
Afelia - Cubes of pork marinated in red wine and coriander seeds
Kleftico - fillet of lamb served on the bone
Also, their greek coffee is just amazing. It's the proper stuff where you have to wait for the granules to settle on the bottom and then sip it slowly. You have to enjoy it sweet though because when you ask for it to be medium, it's really sugary but try it anyway!
