Reviews for Lamoon Restaurant

I didn't really have any high expectations for Lamoon as I'm very picky when it comes to chinese food and often feel let down. The restaurant is comfortable and cosy and the service pretty agreeable.

I was happy to see that they didn't just offer the usual chinese takeaway style dishes such as sweet and sour pork etc. They also had more authentic dishes that you would find in somewhere like chinatown. I went for chicken and lotus root in a clay bowl with plain rice. It was alright, nothing special, a bit bland for my tastes. The others had malaysian king prawn curry and sweet and sour pork. I didn't try any of it but looks-wise, it didn't seem that amazing.

The portions are good here, we all struggled to finish our meal (without starters). They had a good range of different chinese teas, I went for chrysantheum tea and was asked if I wanted sugar in it! Very strange indeed. As I like trying new things, I said yes but I don't think it has changed how I like to take my chinese tea. I still think it's best left as it is.

Lamoon is good value for money but with so many contenders for good food in the area, I don't think I'll be coming back.

This was a rather nice experience. The duck was succulent, the dumplings were tender and and full of flavour. The service was friendly and unhurried. Well recommended.

Was out and about looking for a chinese restaurant, and i found a new chinese in Camberwell- even though they been there for 3 years. Walked in and got greeted with a nice warm smile and was immediately seated. Ordered my food and boy are their portion are big, a lot BIGGER and CHEAPER than Castle Dragon in Elephant and Castle. The food was great, ordered a whole steamed Sea Bass it tasted so fresh and it was boneless not like all other restaurants. All i can say is-being chinese ethnic myself, this is now one of the best chinese restaurant so far...!!!! I recommend this restaurant to all!
