Reviews for Fine Burger Co - CLOSED

I visited here in January and had stomach ache after my lunch. The milkshakes were delicious, but they got my order wrong and I didn't like the substituted chicken salad and I think that's what made me ill.
It was also freezing.

It's all academic now - Fine Burger Company in Balham is now CLOSED.

The first time I visited this restaurant in 2006 my friend complained of a stomach ache all evening. Always willing to give a place a second chance, I returned in January 2009 with high hopes of experiencing something new and improved given the competition of establishments such as the 'Gourmet Burger Kitchen.'

We sat at a table away from the door but were chilly and cold throughout the meal as the air conditioning pounded above our heads. We ordered a steak and a fish burger with a large greek salad to share. My fish burger was very greasy and the meat was grey and in true honesty tasted exactly like a McDonald's filet-o-fish. The feta cheese in the salad was clearly past it's best and tasted 'fizzy' and we could not finish it. The waiter appeared almost embarrassed to serve the meal. With a milk shake and orange juice the bill came to an astonishing £40 for a meal that was akin to a fastfood take-away.

The presentation of the food was good and the service was fine but with the atmosphere of a 'Little Chef' and food that was barely edible, this was a disastrous meal.

We visited this burger place sometime between Christmas and New Year's '09. The venue had a few takers, and the service was ok. This was an early dinner, after a long day without eating, so I had the Ribeye steak.

The steak was quite possibly the worst I've ever seen on a plate! It was reduced to a leather-thin, small and dry thing, which at £14 simply left in stunned in disbelief.

Personally, I like the new burger chains such as New Zealand's GBK, and certainly visited Burger Fuel quite a few times when I spent some time over in the antipodes. By comparison Fine Burger Co didn't look the part.

The veggie burger was terrible too!

They have discounts/offers on Mondays and Tuesdays, but there are better options in the immediate area.
