Ce Magnifique!
I have visited Le Vacherin twice in the last 3 months, having previously been to Racine for the first time (Knightsbridge). On balance I would say the food, efficiency of the service and ironically the price was marginally better at Racine; Le Vacherin makes up for this in atmosphere, serving fantastic traditional french food with very friendly service and in a relaxed typically french bistro setting.
Highly recommended.

Authentic French Bistro
Don't you hate it when you go to a restaurant with great expectations and are disappointed....well that won't happen at Le Vacherin! This 'neighbourhood' style French Bistro is located in leafy Chiswick, and is a favourite of locals and restaurant critics alike. It is simply appointed - nothing fancy here, just very good food at reasonable prices.
The waiting staff are all very French - in fact on our first visit to Le Vacherin our waiter confessed that he was really an accountant who got sick of number crunching and came to London to practice his English, and this was the only job he could get....well, that kind of explained his less than perfect waiting skills....but he more than made up for it with his friendliness and for being so fabulously French!
The speciality of the house is a Baked Vacherin - a gooey baked cheese....I haven't actually tried it as yet, but I hear that it is seriously evil - in a good way. I can however highly recommend the Chateaubriand, served with French beans, chips, barnaise sauce and roast bone marrow. If you have room for dessert don't miss the creamy Crme Brle or see if the delicious Valrhona Chocolate Mousse is on the menu.
