I stumbled across Desperados one night after a visit to the local chinese and Yate's pub. We were looking for somewhere to continue drinking and Desperados was the only place still open.
Ive never been a huge mexican food fan but as the menu had a very extensive cocktail list we decided to head in.

How thrilled am I that I did! This restaurant has converted me to have a real passion for Mexican food . The atmosphere is amazing. You can select whatever music you like from Youtube using the laptop they have installed instead of a jukebox. You are most likely to hear latino rhythms playing though as once you are in there you cannot help but dance to them! As the evening progresses you can guarantee that the music gets a little more 'housey' which is great once you have finished eating.

The menu itself is very varied and there is something for everyone even if you are not a foreign food fan. The steak I had was cooked to perfection and I am a self confessed steak critic. I love mine rare and it's unusual for me to have no complaints about the lack of blood or tenderness but Desperados hit the spot every time.

Their starters are equally as delicious and I have never tasted Nachos like it. Their secret BBQ sauce is pure heaven!

I have never eaten from their desert menu as I find I much rather prefer a 'PS I love you' or a 'Sex on the Beach'- Dont we all? The cocktail menu is amazing and the bar staff put on a little flaring show for you as you wait.

This is probably the most understimated restaurant in Greenwich but by far the best. You MUST give it a go!!

I LOVE this restaurant!! Have been here a couple of times and the food & services has never been a disappointment. There is a great choice of food on the menu - I would recommend the Chicken Burrito!! They also have a great cocktail / shot menu well worth going to for a special occasion.

As others have said it's a bit kitsch to look at but the food is fun and of a good standard. Friendly staff, reasonably priced and good for a pre-cinema meal!

Best Mexican in London so far.....

I'm quite skeptical about most Mexican food in London, simply because I grew up in a part of the U.S. where you can find really decent independent Mexican restaurants run by actual Mexicans. Therefore, I avoid most purported 'Mexican' chain restaurants as they are usually crap.

I was pleasantly surprised by Desperados, even with the fairly cheesy decor. Dimly lit, cowhides on the walls, faux 'rustic', you've seen it before. Desperados has two dining rooms and bars. It's the upper level that adds a bit of a twist--apparently in an effort to use all the space available, about half the tables are only accessible by going up an individual ladder to your booth! Ladies, don't wear a skirt, and no one should drink too many alcoholic beverages when sitting up there--it's an accident waiting to happen. Still makes it interesting though.

On to the food. I've been to this place twice and both times the food was excellent. Properly done nachos, yummy enchiladas, juicy steaks. Service has always been good. Full drinks menu with many cocktails to try. Prices are pretty reasonable with most dishes under 10. If you're in Greenwich and want Mexican, avoid Cafe Sol like the plague and go to Desperados instead!
