Cheap food and bad value
This restaurant/ take away place seems fine at first glance, but it is far from it. I went in there to order plain chow mein (£2.10) and chicken with garlic and ginger (£3.85) and they were both horrible. The chow mein couldn't be any more bland - basically pot noodles would be 100 times better. The cook tried to put it in a container that was slightly bigger than the one it ended up in, and the owner (or manager) yelled at him and obviously (alhtough I can't speak Chinese) it was to say 'put it in the small one'. Then the chicken dish had about 3 pieces of meat in it, with some veggies that were noticeably not very fresh. They also seem to selectively give out prawn crackers to certain people which is really lame. I was overall disgusted with the food and shocked by how little they try to pass off (no meat in a meat dish, cheap ingredients) for how much they charge. Definitely avoid this place unless you want to eat bland food and be ripped off.
Georgina - I honestly have no idea what you're on about seeing as it seems like your first time eating at Mayling. You cannot assume things especially when you don't speak Chinese. I quite frequently visit Mayling for Chinese after going to Costa, it is convenient - Quite literally - around the bend and they don't just randomly give out "free" prawn crackers. They are only "free" to customers with orders over £10.
Of course you're entitled to your own opinion. The food is good, service is extremely quick and of course it is convenient. Recommended.
