Reviews for Wagamama
We have been to this place many times. Particularly in the month of August when they had deals such as buy main course get dessert/starter/another main course free. Even without the deal, it is still pretty good value for money. They have a good variety from the soup based noodles to the unhealthier stir fried version. These two types are the sort we always had, and has always tasted top notch. They have rice and curry on the menu as well, although cannot comment on them as never tried them before. All in all, a place we will keep returning.
I always enjoy going to Wagamama. Its good value for money, the food is good and healthy and reasonably priced and the staff pretty much always on good form. The dishes are quite difficult to understand at first with odd names and sitting next to others on the long benches alongside anybody else in there is bit off putting but the quality of the food more than makes up for this. I enjoy the Katsu curry the best – probably the most unhealthy option in the restaurant but none the less always lovely. They also offer FREE green tea which makes the whole experience all the more reasonable.
Wagamama is not just for Japenese food, although a lot of their food is japanese influenced. I recently ate at this establishment with a friend of mine before flying out to the States. It was a wonderful experience. A lot of Wagamama's in London have an outdoor seating area, as did this particular branch of Wagamama.
You will arrive there, be greeted and seated by a waiter/waitress who will then give you a menu from which you can select either mild, hot or very hot dishes. It's not Curry so don't get confused, but a lot of the dishes have rice, chicken, vegetables and spicey sauce.. but it is delicious so its worth a try. The best thing about Wagamama's is that its restaurant style food and dishes for fast food establishment prices!
You can even avail a special offer which is on at the moment by which if you print off a voucher online (simple google search will reveal the link) you can get a 50% discount from your Meal bill. please note that this does not include drinks, just food... so if two of you eat there and pay 8 for your meals each, you would only pay a total of 8 pounds for both meals! split that and you both paid 4 pounds and got half price! Bargain.
Try wagamama's, whether it be via a discount or not because its really tastey, you won't regret it.
If you think that japanese food is only sushi (as I did...) give Wagamama a go! As soon as you get familiar with the menu you'll definitely enjoy it! I went 6-7 times in Canary Wharf and was never disappointed by what I picked! I don't know about other Wagamamas in London but Canary Wharf restaurant is nice and they are super quick in finding you a table (even in the busy lunch time) and most of all in serving you the food.
Only one thing annoys me a bit... you get all the food almost at the same time, so if you get a starter you can't eat it before the main course hit the table! Probably that's why they call them side dishes even if they are a lot more like starters...
Anyway, my favourite picks are - for starters/side dishes - ebi katsu (deep-fried black tiger prawns in panko breadcrumbs served with a spicy red chilli and garlic sauce and garnished with a wedge of lime) and negima yakitori (skewers of grilled chicken and spring onion coated in yakitori sauce), while best main courses are chicken katsu curry (chicken fillet deep-fried in panko breadcrumbs, served with a light curry sauce and japanese-style rice garnished with a combination of mixed leaves and red pickles) and all the teppan (noodles cooked on a hot, flat griddle). If you don't have an important meeting after lunch and you are a daring person then try kare noodle (noodles in a fantastic coconut based soup). Why daring?? Because it's so easy to spot your shirt with the soup!
The bill... if you don't eat as a pig the thumb rule says roughly £12 each... including the tip to the friendly and nice waiters!
