This is the kind of Indian restaurant that it's always good to have on your doorstep.

The food is of superior quality (try the lime rice with garlic chicken), and the wine list is perfectly adequate, if somewhat restricted. Vegetarians and vegans are reasonably well looked after.

The ambience is good, and the staff are reasonably attentive - and if you're in a hurry (and tell them) they can feed you and send you on your way very quickly, which makes this a favourite for dinner before going to the 1920s cinema down the road.

Solid, above average local restaurant, although not somewhere necessarily to travel to visit without any other reason.

As Indians go this is one of the best. Indian Restaurants in London are of a pretty low quality and dining in them is neither invigorating or memorable. The food often too spicy with poor ingredients that aren't that fresh or just overall lack lustre. At the Indian Ocean at least they try. The good looking chef comes out at the end of the meal, chats and gets to know you. The Staff are friendly and upbeat. The decor warm and inviting. The Cushioned booths intimate and comfortable. The food is pretty fine. There are some excellent dishes in the Veggie section. The Nan bread with fenugreek is darn good, as was the Lamb. Even the Ice cream was pretty good. It will cost you between £10-15 for a knockout meal that you'll remember - but that will cover beer and desert.
