Sensational Sushi & Japanese trimmings
A friend had been recommended this Japanese restaurant as a top-tip for authentic Japanese in London. What I hadn't bargained for was a proper gastronomic adventure and a first-rate wallet killer.
The specials menu is a heavenly mix of intriguing and delicious dishes like miso poached fish, scooped baked aubergine, wonderfully light prawn tempura and tuna salad (see photos, which are better indications than my explanations).
Would definitely go back but in moderation as this is a real treat.
ps. Been back again and am now simply ecstatic about Cocoro. The Saba sushi was from heaven, the eel omelette divine and the saki went down like a homesick mole. Even things I have eaten before just are not the same here - it is like they come from a different planet entirely. Wow factor in abundance and it only ends up being so expensive because we ate so much. Individual things are not that unreasonable but portions are small, so they lure you in. It also has a basement with more traditional Japanese dining tables which looks fun. Might try it next time but this is now my best Japanese/ Sushi restaurant experience anywhere in the world.
