Reviews for Peking Palace
This nicely decked out restaurant serves the usual vegetarian delights to those with an Asian palate. No roadkill/ chicken, its fake meats are quite unlike the rubbery fare one might be more acquainted with from visits to all you can eat buffets.
I had among other things the mock duck - and this was a definite delight - visually appealing, tender and ever so slightly sweet, the person who went with me assessed the food as out of this world marvellous.
Although the restaurant's set at the top of a nasty road, it's far better than the dump that is tourist-infested Camden on a weekend; there the place becomes a dumping ground for polystyrene boxes coated in the remnants of deep-fried pigeon nuggets and ketchup.
If you're after peace and quiet, no nonsense, a place to chat seriously and thoughtfully, and great food not based on cruelty then I'd suggest this unique place. Bravo !
There are a rash of Thai Veggie all you can eat fake meat joints in London right now. The grub there is stodgy, fried and uniform. This place is a cut and half above those franchises. The lunchtime buffet is good and reasonably priced at - £5.50. The place is cosy and gets packed with Veggies, Buddhists and their chums. The restaurant decor isn't the usual Chinese polished minimalist that's easy to clean - there's more carpet, satin curtains and warm yellow to give a softer more welcoming feel. The buffet is good value and the evening menu more expensive. The veggie chicken is excellent, the rice perfect. Set meal prices are a little bit more than you'd pay in Chinatown but worth it if your a veggie who's seeking to graze in different pastures. Definitely a highlight and unusual find in the urban sprawl of Archway.
This place is without doubt the best vegan Chinese restaurant in London. Offering a wide range of meat-substitute (soya standing in for chicken, pork, beef and fish) and vegetable based standard and unusual oriental dishes at an extremely affordable price - dinner for two easily comes under £30. They also offer a lunchtime buffet for a fixed price and takeaway service to the surrounding area. Service is extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the restaurant itself is only a few minutes walk from Archway station. A hidden gem of vegetarian London - definitely worth the trip into the wilds of North London!
