Reviews for Cipriani
As I just read here "I thought I had walked into one of those modern vampire movies".
"Really disappointed. Was at Cipriani London Saturday 28th March and I can tell you, had the WORST dinner experience ever.
Some of the staff were playing around with guests, make fun of them, specially two Italian coquets that were holding a station in front of the toilet entrance, they were all the time doing jokes and looking at ladies back and doing face to each other.
The food was dissapointing, I had a spaghetti with lobster, the spaghetti was way over cooked, like a pap, the lobster was also way over cooked just breaking in the plate. The wine was ok, but the glasses are a big and unforgettable aggression to any kind of wine lover, they use this small glasses, so if you order a £200 wine be ready to drink it straight from the bottle that I think is sometimes better.
The tables are really low and there is no comfort at all, the chairs are also low, so if you are a bit tall forget you will feel eating in a “kindergarden” cafeteria.
The value for money is a very poor, I couldn´t sleep trying to understand how can a place like this charge so much and so many people are willing to pay, £100 per head ordering the cheapest wine and one main course is an assault, specialy if the main course is really but really bad.
In the end I couldn´t eat my food, the waiter came and ask to me “have you finish?” I look at him and to my plate and I couldn´t speak and he just took the full plate and even care if I like it or not. When the bill came a very un-polite waiter was really unpleasant with all of us at the table, he make sure that we could understand how important is the Cipriani and how they are successful and they can do anything.
I can tell you, don´t waste your money in this place!
After writing this review I intend to e-mail CERN (the European particle-physics research body). These are the only people i suggest come to this restaurant - not for the food - but because i am almost certain this is whence all the Dark Matter of the universe is derived, so there may be some value in a study visit for those professionals in that field only. Aside from that, the food is abysmal, unless you have an extremely retro palette wherein Findus' 70's frozen canellonis are your notion of fine cuisine. The staff were OK and typically jaunty as you might expect at any established Italian restaurant in Mayfair. However, the clientele were of the spectacularly evil euro-set; I thought I had walked into one of those modern vampire movies. The net from ridiculously overpriced food I'm sure is funneled into some sort of fund to enchance the splendid yacht-like interior. In summary, more of a place to be seen than a place to eat - but i was hungry so... END
This place is a bad joke.
The food is very good but the prices astronomical - get on the Eurostar to Paris and go to Pierre Gagnaire or L' Ambroiserie and it will cost you less in total.
If you like to go to a reataurant with arogant pimps for Maitre D's and mingle with eurotrash , hookers and their sad punters then this place is for you.
If money is no object then go for lunch which has a more civilised crowd and just enjoy some great classic cuisine from the Harry's Bar cookbook.
Excellent ,good service. Lovely room ,
great food.It is pricey but good for special occasion.
I went to Cipriani on valentines day and enjoyed it very much, the atmosphere and the food was amazing. It is more expensive than other restaurants but worth every penny.
I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly waiters & impeccable service. The food was superb, we ordered the set menu: the signature carpaccio more than lived up to expectations; the sea bream was simply cooked and tasted the way fish should taste; dessert was a dramatic affair, with 4 waiters standing around our table each holding up two cakes for us to choose. The fattest slice of dark, sumptuous chocolate cake landed on my table.
If you want to impress your lady take her there... it's a must!
This is a genuine excellent Italian restaurant. The food, atmosphere, staff and service were all excellent - I saw things done properly for the first time in years. Very worthwhile - go there. I loved it. Had the tuna tartare and the tiramisu - both beautiful.
