Reviews for Carluccio's
I've eaten here once and got takeaway bits a few times. The meal I had was good, but nothing particularly special. Speed of service was average, staff were fine.
The takeaway stuff is also tasty, but incredibly overpriced. I recently bought a medium tub of olives and the same size tub of pickled onions (they've probably got a fancier name for them -- admittedly, they were pickled in balsamic vinegar) and it came to £13! Incredible! They were good, but not that good!
My other beef is that queues can be quite long.
This is one of our favourite lunch spots in Ealing, although I find the atmosphere a bit lacking for an evening out. But the food is good - the pasta is always tasty and they make a great mushroom risotto. At lunchtime it matters less that it can be a bit noisy. It is family-friendly and good for small groups but I wouldn't come here for a romantic evening for two.
Carluccios is a chain of Italian cafe's with food stores/deli's attached. Really modern looking, they are a great place for lunch or dinner, or even just to meet up with a friend for coffee and a treat. They have stores popping up all over London, all based on the same formula and with pretty much the same menu. Their deli and shop section is excellent, with plenty of tasty treats and gifts on offer, with some particularly nice Christmas gift ideas.
They have quite a large menu, with Italian style breakfasts, pastas and meat dishes to tempt all. I am a regular at Carluccios. It is one of my favourite places to go for a coffee and a little treat. I will pop in there by myself if I am out shopping, and love to meet up with friends there too for a coffee and a gossip.
Their coffee is normally very good, and they have some great cakes - I do love their Lemon Tart and the Orange & Polenta Cake is delicious too.
If we go for lunch I am usually tempted by the Lasagne or the Milanese di Pollo, and perhaps a cheeky glass of Italian red or just a mineral water.
I have been to several branches across London. Service is normally friendly but can be slow at times and mistakes often seen to happen at some of the branches.
