Zagora is a small Moroccan restaurant located just off the High Road in Chiswick. It has apparently been trading for several years, but I had never heard of it until recently and thought it sounded worth a try, so I dragged my parents along for their first taste of Moroccan cuisine.

The interior was colourfully decorated in a Moroccan style, with plenty of cushions and soft lighting. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which added to our enjoyable evening.

We ordered a selection of starters and mains to share between the five of us - there was quite a bit to choose from and it all sounded great. After ordering we were given a big serve of hummus and pita bread - "compliments of the chef"...

We ordered a selection of starters and mains to share between the five of us - there was quite a bit to choose from and it all sounded great. After ordering we were given a big serve of hummus and pita bread - "compliments of the chef". We started with a bottle of the Moroccan white wine which was.interesting.though we opted for an Italian for our second bottle.

Our starters arrived and we were pleased with our selection - we shared the Grilled Halloumi, the Fried Aubergine, the Spicy Sausages and the Stuffed Sardines. The aubergine was particularly tasty, and I was pleased that I saved some of the pita bread to accompany it.

Our main courses were the Chicken Pastilla, the Chicken, Lemon and Olive Tajine (daily special), the Lamb Couscous, and the Moroccan Chicken with sweet potatoes. We enjoyed the flavours of all the dishes, though the standout favourite was the Pastilla - which is layers of thin pastry filled with chicken and nuts, sprinkled with cinnamon.

I couldn't leave without having some mint tea and some Baklawa, and everyone agreed it was a good idea. I really do love the Moroccan style mint tea, and it was the perfect ending to a very enjoyable meal at Zagora.
