Reviews for Annie's

Can't go wrong with this one, the food here is classic British fodder done very well. Decor is English Eccentrics and I am always amazed by what they can produce out of what seems a tiny kitchen, but I have never been disappointed. If you are lucky enough to meet the proprietor then you will understand why the standard continues to be so high, her attention to detail with everything is limitless. Great upstairs room too which I understand can also be used for large dinner parties. Chiswick remains my fave but there is another now in Barnes too. If you have not been then add this to your list.

Annie's is a small two story restaurant/cafe located close to the Thames in leafy Chiswick. It has a very cosy feel during winter, but in summer the windows are thrown open and the prime tables are those on outside on the footpath.

This is a friendly place, with smiling, always helpful service. I have eaten here for brunch, lunch and dinner and never been disappointed.

For brunch make sure you try out their Eggs Benedict or Eggs Royale (with Smoked Salmon). If you are there for lunch or dinner you won't be sorry if you start your meal with the Warm Goats Cheese on French Bread with rocket & walnuts.

Then follow it with their special recipe Shepherds Pie or my old favourite - the Rib Eye steak with fries and bearnaise sauce. They also do really good desserts - worth squeezing in if you can.

If your looking for a cosy and quiet place for 'the two of you' then this is definately the place to be. The atmosphere is warm and friendly without being cramped. "An eclectic mix of richly coloured chairs, dark wooden tables, chandeliers, cushions, candles and roses - the overall impression is one of charming shabby chic with emphasis on the chic."(www.chiswickw4.com)

The food was good but not fantastic. Having said that I certainly didn't grudge paying £108 for champagne cocktails, bottle of wine, 3 courses, water and irish coffees for two.

I would definately recommend it.
