Reviews for Cafe Olive at Night

This place was recommended by a friend. And lucky for me that he did! A charming bistro off the high street where I found a small but delightful menu. The food was delicious with great quality ingredients. The staff are charming and friendly - nothing is too much for them. House wine was excellent (red). Reasonable prices too. All accompanied by good background music and interesting art. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely making this a local haunt!!

A little off the beaten track but well worth a detour. It has a relaxed atmosphere serving great mediterranean style tapas, and a refreshing lemon and rosemary cocktail. Keep an eye out as they also organise shows for artists, etc... which offers something a little bit different.

This place is off the busy high streets on a quiet road. The food is quality, delicious and home cooked. Very friendly and laid back atmosphere and good music. Small but well thought out menu which is very reasonably priced. Grilled hallumi with roasted cherry toms, melanzane parmagiana, black eye bean salad, super tasty. Good wine too. They tell me that some interesting cocktails are coming along soon. Can't wait!! If you are over pubbing and clubbing but want more zing in your night than a restaurant can offer then try this place.

I was recommended by an old friend, and found this to be a hidden gem. It reminded me of those small unassuming cafe/restaurants you stumble across in rural France or Italy, that once through the doors you are treated to amazing tasting food. The five dishes I chose were all superb and full of great flavours and this was all accompanied by a great wine. The price was refreshing too; it goes to show you don’t have to pay high prices for high quality food. I am sure it’s only a matter of time before they scoop an award, which in my opinion will be well deserved.

Fantastic, chilled atmosphere with healthy fresh mediterranean food. Perfect if you want a chilled evening with friends. Loved it and will definitely be going back!

Worth a look or a trip here- right by Angel Tube then up Pentonville Rd towards Chapel Market. Stumbled (luckily for me) upon the place last week. Opened recently and I'd say get there fast as I've never tasted home-cooked Italian food like it. I asked the chef, Dan, about his recipes but unfortunately the secrets are in the family recipes and I was not privvy to this info. We had black-eyed bean salad with grilled halloumi croutons (delicious), exceptionally good Parmagiano della Melanzane, a lasagne-esque dish made with aubergines- SUPREME! and then finished with a platter of Neal's Yard cheeses to share served with quince jelly. All came in with a couple of glasses of wine at around £25 for the two of us- exceptional value for exceptional food- Highly recommend!

Cafe Olive is a welcome new member of the cafe society in Islington, offering light, delicate meals; friendly, efficient service and modern art on the walls, and cool trendy music. Close to both the Angel and Chapel Market, it offers peace and tranquility in the evenings for those not looking for loud music or too much to drink. The restaurant not only creates good food but good art as well. Much of the art on display, has been produced by the cook, while his partner ensures a warm welcome and intelligent conversation for weary walkers dropping in after a hard day's shopping. A great place to meet friends in the eveing for a chat without having to battle to be heard above loud music.
