Reviews for Trattoria Sapori
I moved to stoke newigton 2 months ago, as I was walking past church street towards Angel I found myself in a small park surrounded by shops and cafe... this lovely spot has few choises if you want to have coffees and food but I wanted to give a try to the italian Trattoria Sapori, maybe being a bit nostalgic of my country and his flavours. The inside was warm and almost reminded me of an old house in the Tuscan countryside, and the wooden tables and chairs matched really well with the modern bits of the ambience that belong to the cafe that was there before. A big table full of cakes and croissants and small delicious pizzas on the deli counter convinced me straight away to seat and enjoy some relaxing time. The wide window at the front was absolutly perfect to observe people going around in Newigton Green in hurry but with a different soundtrack, no ambulance or cars but jazz music and italian conversations:lovely!! Coffee was perfect, and the Buffalo pizza I had a bit later( the smell from the pizzeria was too good I couldn't resist) didn't disappointed me. As an italian person I m really picky with pizzas , I like the base thin and well cooked, not too much topping just enough to be full at the end but make me wanted more...simple and delicious that's how I like it!
Te staff was friendly, efficient and service was really good.
I m coming back there often now, I feel a bit like home and I founded perfect also just to have drinks or quick meals with my friends....fresh pasta dishes, sandwiches, salads, breakfast, cakes and piadinas are as good as pizzas! Madonna mia!! I love it....
The wine they made us pay for, even after my friend had cut his tongue on the glass he found on his pizza, was absolutely disgusting. Avoid like the plague.
I have eaten dishes there from both their kitchen and their pizza kitchen on many occassions with my family and the food and service have both been excellent! I am so glad they have arrived on the Green as the place has given it new life!! Keep up the good work T.Sapori
After being advised by Toni, the proprietor of Trattoria Saporia, to try the pizza as they were one of the few places in London that "made pizza that way", you can imagine my surprise when my Quattro Stagioni (requested with Anchovies instead of Olives) came with an unsuspected topping of Glass. After my first bite I was left with a mouthful of glass, cuts and blood. After stemming the bleeding in the (less than pleasant) toilets, I found Toni and calmly explained what had happened so as to not cause a scene in front of his other customers. Toni offered me a brief and somewhat insincere apology and offered to replace the culpable pizza. Despite this kind gesture we declined the offer and said that we would be leaving immediately, only to be presented with a bill for the bottle of (incredibly overpriced for what it was) house red and a bottle of Italian lager we were halfway through consuming before our food arrived.
In the conversation that followed, Toni correctly told us that he had every right to charge for the drinks and he did not see it necessary to over them as compensation for what had happened. He likened the incident to that of finding a hair in ones food and explained that this kind of thing happened in restaurants all the time. He was of the firm belief that offering to replace our food with something else from the same glass contaminated kitchen was a fitting gesture. We paid for the drinks and left.
Italian food can be simple but there are far too many places that get it so wong, and Trattoria Sapori and their new owners know what they are doing.
I am an Italian food buff, and the best Pizza's are here in Newington Green, the pasta is just as great cooked at the moment you place your order and you can taste the difference.
Aslo I did check out their Italian version of the English breakfast, only served on Saturday and Sunday but oh my is it worth having the panchetta instead of greasy bacon, and the sausages are lovely and meaty.
Thumbs to the new arrivals to the Green......
PS: Shame that they dont deliver...Anyway who wants a Pizza in a box delivered to your door warm and only to find out that it will take 1 hour to arrive....
Is anybody know, are the owners the same or not
Trattoria is the real Italian's in Town....
This used to be Relish, whose unedifying mix of overpriced deli, horrendously poor service and insubstantial food kept them in business for all of a couple of months before shutting down. I felt a bit guilty when Relish closed after I'd given the place such a mauling, but from the other reviews I came to realise that it wasn't my fault, and that very few people had actually read what I'd written so that was okay.
It was therefore with an optimistic if somewhat jaded perspective that I found myself in the only-slightly redecorated but really wanting to be different Trattoria Sapori. And as before, I gave it two tries to make sure I wasn't being too partisan the first time round.
On the plus side, the food is... utterly wonderful. Fresh homemade Italian breads, really delicious sandwiches, excellent coffee served properly, terrific pizza, just really really good.
The place still has this massive window onto the Green, and all the potential of a blank space, there are newspapers and a nice big sofa, and tables outside (finally - they had nearly closed down by the time the outside terrace opened last time).
And yet, somehow, there's a deep sense of disquiet in the place. Something's just wrong. I don't know what it is, the feng shui's all wrong or something, but it just feels odd, like it's half-done. Which is weird because it's clean and comfortable and pleasant, I just... don't want to hang out there particularly.
Could be a curse, could just be me, being strange. I'm going to reserve judgement, except to say that it's an awful lot better than Relish. Which doesn't take much, admittedly - but better scant praise than none at all.
Oh, and the food is lovely. Really.

Unfortunately your glass-serving joke of a restaurant does a not a "chain" make. We have spoken to the authorities and they tell us glass does not "often" end up in the finished dish. The next time you refuse to apologise for almost killing one of your customers, then disguise yourself on one of these websites in a pathetic attempt to salvage your self-respect, at least wait a week or so before unleashing your thinly-disguised arse-covering ploy.
