Reviews for Boundary
Ventured to the Boundary a couple of times, but due to its popularity could never get onto the roof for a drink without having a long wait...3rd time lucky we made it. Definitely worth it - great view, pretty landscaped terrace with comfy chairs, heaters and even a blanket!
...not that that's a good thing. Queued among the well heeled and plastic faced, got to the front, was told that my friend and I would be seated on the sofa, which we quite fancied after the wait. When we took the lift up to the top we were greeted and shown to the 'fireplace'. The fireplace was just that – a large black stone affair in the middle of the seating area, Blankets were placed on the ledge of the fireplace; this is where we were to be sitting. Unfortunately our expectations had been raised so we were rather disappointed by this, and asked whether there was anywhere else to sit, and were plonked on the garden chairs sharing a table with two other ladies. Oh well.
The clientele were generally a well behaved, suited lot, fairly estate agenty and definitely not the usual Shoreditch rabble. The place had the feel of Shoreditch House but certainly didn't have the same fizz or glamour – the service definitely let it down.
We didn't show our disappointment and yet it still took us 20 minutes of watching staff amble around with thousand yard stares before we were served – that was only after I stood up to speak to someone about our lack of service. Not what we'd expected. We ordered a jug of punch and some bread and olives which arrived fairly promptly, we were relieved to find. The bread was fabulous; round rolls with a sun-dried tomatoey paste inside, layered bread with pesto and pine nuts amongst others. The punch however tasted of cheap lemon squash and had the aftertaste to match.
We didn't really feel like staying so asked for the bill but again had to wait ages for it to turn up. We left feeling thoroughly let down. What a shame. Won't be going back there again.
