Reviews for Tai Won Mein
I love this place and have been eating there since i moved to london 11 years ago.. i did move away for 5 years, but every time i was up for a visit i always tried to pop in. just can't go to greenwich without visiting this place.
The food is great and a bargain for the amount you get and I can highly recommend the chilli salt squid which is always cooked to perfection!
Also if you cannot finish your meal you can pay 50p and get a take away container.
I highly recommend this place especially if you are out all day as it will keep you full for ages.
Lots of tastless noodles with cheap meat and a gluttinous sauce thrown over them really isn’t a great healthy dinner .This place is cheap. But you know, cheap places are usually cheap for a reason. And it’s really just not that great. I know this makes me sound like i'm stuck up, never mind. Greenwich is well known for it’s many eateries and I rather go elsewhere.
Cheap ish and cheerful noodle house, good selection of food available, i hope your not shy because, its compact dining at its best, herded in like cattle and seated on wooden benches, not the place to propose to a loved one, the staff are fast and efficient, although i constantly had the feeling i was moving along on a conveyor belt and as soon as i was seated, they wanted to take my money and ship me out of the door making space for the next punter in the line. If you want your belly filling for a reasonable price and dont expect a fine dining experience, then give this place a go.
As a Londoner of Chinese extraction a decent cheap noddle bar is a treasured thing, and this is one that I definitely appreciate. The quality is very good for the price - the food being inexpensive but tasty and filling, and the freshly-squeezed juice highly recommended.
This place is a real tonic after a day's heavy touring of Greenwich and its many shops and attractions. Definitely recommended if you ever need to satisfy that noodle craving in the area.
This cash only noodle bar has been jammed full every time we've gone, but that's to be expected with them serving cheap and tasty food in a central location! A meal for two with starters and non-alcoholic beverages will only set you back about £16, so it certainly won't break the bank.
If you've ever been to the chain 'Noodle Time' you've got a pretty good idea of what Tai Won Mein is serving. Starters include pork dumplings and spring rolls, mains are mostly noodle or rice based dishes served in sauce or broth. They do freshly pressed juices as well (try the apple!).
Seating is communal on benches, not a place to go for a private conversation. The crowd is pretty diverse, several different languages being spoken, ages ranging from teens to 60+. This is a good place to go for a quick bite after a hard day, when you can't be bothered to cook!
