    Shabby chic & nice wines

    I've been to The Garrison a few times for drinks whilst in the London Bridge/Bermondsey area. It's very nice, quite eclectically furnished and decorated, like shabby french country chic :-)

    It's quite an intimate and buzzy place, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and, there's a nice selection of wines available.

    There's a gorgeous little cinema downstairs and I'll be going back for that alone. I've not eaten there yet but the menu reads well and the food looks lovely. I'm looking forward to trying it.

    The Garrison is a chilled and quirky pub along Bermondsey St and is conviently placed for relaxing drinking and eating (especially in the evenings and weekends). Its a quirky bar / restaurant with lots of odd antiques and objects lying and ahnging around. The Garrison offers a fantastic range of beer, ciders, wines and spirits. Much better than most bars in London. The pub is small and it can get busy but it always maintains a chilled atmoshpere. It's best to call and book a table or an area to sit. The food menu is great if you wish to have a meal. Its not a big meun but it covers all the areas and the food is great. I prefer to drink at the Garrison rather than having a meal, but overal its a lovely atmospheric quaint restaurant / bar and gets the thumbs up from me.

    Quirky decor and honest food

    After reading the great reviews on TrustedPlaces about The Garrison, I decided it sounded like a good place to pop to for lunch before a visit to Borough Market one Saturday (I have found it is best to visit the market on a full stomach, else I buy way too much!).

    Thankfully, our experience at The Garrison lived up to the hype - what a great place! Loved the quirky décor - a crazy mix of antique/shabby chic/car boot sale, successfully thrown together. Seating is a little cramped - they certainly squeeze the tables in, and ours was basically touching the one next to us, but then we didn't have a booking, so you take what you can get. Service was very friendly.

    We wanted a fairly light lunch (as had plans to later sample a tasty treat from Konditor & Cook with a coffee from Monmouth), and the menu gave us a few appealing options. We had the Smoked Bacon, Avocado & Tomato Sandwich on Rye, and the Angus Steak Sandwich with Tomato on Rye, both served with Hand Cut Chips. Ingredients were good quality and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, especially those chips.

    One word: Good!

    I would not qualify this place as a pub, as at lunch time it is really a restaurant rather than a social drinking place. The menu is always fine with a decent variety of dishes, including delicious fishes and burgers. The deco is nice too, providing a fake vintage atmosphere that gives you the impression to eat in an atique. Staff is nice and so is the bill. It can be a bit crowded sometimes...

    Yummy yummy in my tummy

    Had my birthday here and hired the room downstairs. Service brilliant, food yummy, wine too quickly flowing and iPod too loud according to the one of the bar men (!!!) but all good fun and would def reccomend as great value and very cosy.

    Gourmet Garrison

    Had a pretty boozy lunch, so my recollections are slightly hazy!

    Food generally great (although the prawn toast that we shared as a starter were slightly on the well done side!), with a good regular menu and a good selection of specials. Would describe it as modern British, which makes sense since its a gastro-pub. For some reason I went for the seafood risotto (which was actually good), but as soon as I saw the impressive-looking Garrison burger I felt like I was missing out! Decent selection of wines too.

    Friendly staff, and a relaxed, chilled-out atmosphere, with the kitchen visible from the restaurant (you can either sit at regular tables, or they also have raised bar tables, good for a bigger group). It's on a pretty trendy road, so you get a cool crowd in there, dropping in for a beer or coffee as well as eating, and taking advantage of the free wi-fi.

    So it's a thumbs-up for the Garrison from me.

    Local pub perfectly positioned for lunchtime gastronomy and smoke free after work drinks. the food is fresh, exciting and seasonal and the drinks are not too pricey considering the lovely environment.
    the cheese on toast (although it stings to pay £3.50 for cheese on toast) is the perfect way to soak up 7 glasses of chilled white wine, and the 'spicy nuts' are definitely the best way to stave off hunger pangs until you get to the macdonalds at london bridge!
    the only negative slants to my Garrison experiences thus far is the toilets never smell too fresh (but i guess this comes with being underground and close to the river?) and the portions of chips are so tiny you need to have 3 to feel satisfied - not what i would expect for about £3.50 a pop!
    its a lovely place, the only reason i go there less than i want is becuase of smoking colleagues, but soon there will be no excuse and i shall frequent it much more often.
