I have lived in Marylebone for the last 40 years and casa becci is the last "trattoria" we have left

I eat at casa becci on average once a week and always find the atmosphere welcoming and the food consistent

I would recommend the calamari and the bruschetta to start, and the linguine lobster or veal milanese

i take my family to eat at casa becci at least once a fortnight, and every time i visit the cinema on baker street.

the owners are all very friendly and the place is run like a traditional family trattoria, which we like and is such an antidote to all the chain restaurants.

i would recommend it to everyone, but if you expect it to be perfect it is not, like true a true trattoria the charm is in the roughness around the edges!!

Good food, slow service, rude & insulting owner
    Current
A group of 4 of us went here on Saturday night; going back because both I and others in my party had always had a positive experience in this restaurant - both food and service wise. However, last night was different.

The food itself was good but the experience and service were amongst the worst I experienced in London being both insulting and nasty. In the end the very digruntled and unfriendly owner called (allegedly) the police since we didn't want to pay service charge. Our reasons include

    1. Wait time of over 40 minutes for the entree (1st dish) to arrive
    2. Another 40+ minutes for the second dish to arrive
    3. A reluctance to give us any further bread while waiting (between the small ish portions)
    4. A waitress who seemed to only carry one item at a time - or max two
    5. When asked for the bill, not getting the bill but rather serving the table next to us a glass of water, a pot of sugar one at a time
    6. The disrespectful attitude of the owner

The owner accussed of asking for too much bread because we are French!! And how dare you be hungry in my restaurant where you have to wait nearly an hour to be served. (?) I'm actually italian-new yorkaise and was with another girl from Hong Kong and two french. Italians don't eat bread? Only French do?

We didn't pay the service charge which made the owner angrey; We have the leagal right not to pay so her calling the police made no sense especially considering the lack of service and the fact that we arrived at 730 to leave at 11 because two plates took so long.

I will never go back, sorry for them to have lost neighbourhood residents who would have happily had become returing customers. Sorry for them and I'm also sorry for you if you visit there and continue to support the two faced unprofessional woman who runs the place.
