The Blue Elephant is a local landmark in Fulham Broadway, mainly because of the interior. Inside there is a tropical theme with plants, flowers and fish ponds ensuring that eating here is an experience. The cuisine is Thai and authentic, and a buffet is served on Sundays. Catering for private parties of up to 250 guests is available upon request.

Tastier
Quite a different atmosphere and decoration than what I've found in London so far. I really enjoyed the calm, which could be due to the fact we were Tuesday, though.
Even if my two friends barely could finish their plates (but girls, you know ...), I would advise you to go there for the taste, not for the amount. My Koh Samui (main based on sea food) was very good, but by the end of it I had enough room to finish the Imperial Fish of my neighbour. If you're into the salty-sweety mixes, I highly recommend that last one.
Expect a bill a bit expensive.

Choose Your Company Well!
This place left me in a muddle. I left unsure what I felt about it. Don't get me wrong, I left full, happy and stunned at the decor, but something just wasn't quite right.
Reading the other reviews, I feel distinctly in the middle of the two camps.
The setting and decor is different - there is no doubt about that. A thai styled, slightly more up market version of the Rainforest Cafe perhaps? I'm being cruel - the setting is stunning, and I can imagine that if you had a quite little table tucked away in a corner then it could be very romantic.
We had no real issues with the service when we went - they were polite, prompt and attentive. If anything they were perhaps a little over attentive. Sometimes you just want to be left to enjoy the meal, and the designated driver doen't really want the waiter to come and refill his wine glass every 5 minutes.
The food was also ok. By no means the best Thai food in London, but I have also had a lot worse. While I am familiar(ish) with a Thai menu, the rest of the party were not, so we played 'safe' and went for a set menu. I suspect that this was a mistake. I don't think much of it was prepared fresh to order and the portions were very small. My advice, steer clear of the set menu.
Prices? Very expensive for what you get. I guess the upkeep on the Koi Carp, streams and waterfalls must be very expensive.
All in all, it was actually quite average.
We still had a fantastic night though. Makes you realise doesn't it - choose who you go with carefully as the company can make all the difference!

tasty but expensive eat!
took my girlfriend to the blue elephant for valentines day this year and it didn't disappoint. i found it odd however that our table was in SUCH close proximity to another couples - to the point where they moved.. but other than that, the interior is fantastic. sitting by the stream is a delight. the starters were delightful and we both noted how tender the meat was. this applies to both starters and mains. the chicken satay wasn't hard work to chew off the skewer and the lamb was easy enough to cut up with just the fork.. the food is good without a doubt. furthermore it's halal which is an added bonus for me. but it does hit the pocket hard.. not a regular eat i'm afraid!

Overrated / Overpriced
There is no denying that this is a lovely resturant. But if you are looking for value for money, then I'd try somewhere else.
I went here for a friends birthday and although I could not fault the anything in particular, the whole expeierence was a huge let down.
The food although tastey, in my opinion is servered in rather small prtions, the service while attentative also felt slighty intrusive and the prices as mentioned I did not feel offered any value for money.
They do have a personal touch, and a unique seting for diners however you can get the same quality food for much less at local resurants.
If you are looking for something fancy and money is no object then this is a good choice.
If you're just looking for some great thai food without the frills then I'd keep looking.

Blue Elephant
The Blue elephant is a great Thai resturant in London, its not only the food that is breathtaking but also the decoration is great!
when you first walk in you're not expecting to see what is behind the next set of doors, its like an indoor rainforest!
in order to get to your table the waiter will meander you through a trail of botanical flowers and across small bridges where beneath are a flow of different fish, all shapes and sizes!
The food and service is also great. However the prices are slightly high, this is most probably due to the high quality.

Sunday buffet treat
Blue Elephant has always been my favourite Thai restaurant in London - and Thai is my favourite food, so it's a winning combination really! Last Sunday I experienced the buffet lunch for the first time. The evening meals can be a little pricey - but 'eat as much as you can cram' QUALITY food is a bargain at 22. (Well, actually it was more like 35 by the time you include drinks and service).
Not only is the decor and presentation of the food immaculate, but the atmosphere is very laid back. And if you have kids, it is a very child friendly place on a Sunday lunchtime. Just ask Dale and Rachel ....we went with them!!

Thai Delight
Wow. We recently visited this restaurant and had a great experience!
We visited on a Sunday for their special all you can eat buffet priced at around 23 per person. The term all you can eat buffet is usually associated with greasy cheap food in eateries that have more visits from the health inspector than customers. But not this place.
We were shown to our table through a maze of boarded walkways, overhanging trees and a flowing stream with fish. The restaurant has been divided into separate areas so although it can accommodate 100+ people you never really feel part of a large restaurant. The buffet system was explained by the professional and friendly staff. The range of soups, starters, mains and deserts was varied and plentiful. One lasting memory was of the Dim Sum style starters, 8 9 individual dishes, that each had their own different sauce to compliment.
The meal was relaxing and the two hours passed quickly (the Sunday lunch special is from either 12:00 14:15 or 14:30 onwards). The bill for four people including service charge was just under 150 which may seem expensive but we felt it was worth the treat. We'll definitely be going again.

Pink Elephant
Well I've got to agree with Alevy on this one. Maybe I wouldn't be as harsh as him, but still I agree with the overall thesis (thesis? what is this a business plan?!!) of his review.
I don't know what they put in the food at the Blue Elephant (MSG, too much garlic), but I've been there a couple of times and when I left, I did feel that I've just been on a pub crawl and followed it up by an 8 course Indian.
I mean bloated is an understatement. And no, I did not eat that much.
The second star goes to the nice fish pond they've got under the footbridge.
I mean you don't get to see that every day in a restaurant.
Dunno if you need a valium before you go, but don't raise your expectations too much.
