Reviews for Sheba

I forgot to mention we found rat droppings in the toilet!!

I had a similar experience at Sheba. I have been living in London for 2 years now and never been decieved as I have been in Sheba. I took a group of 22 girls on my treat to Sheba for my Birthday with the 40% off food voucher. We met all the conditions of the discount and even bought alcohol from the restuarant at ridiculous prices!! They made up for the discount through the above average alcohol prices, £6 for a pint!! and we recieved kids meal instead of normal dishes for adults. I had 4 small pieces of Chicken in my korma, it was way too sweet then other korma I had at its surrounding restaurants. The Bill was dawnting as it had an unmentioned 15% service charge. My Birthday was spoilt. We had to have burger and chips an hour later we left the restaurant so I do not recommend this place to anyone.

I have been to almost all the restaurants in Brick Lane and this one is definetly the Worst of them all. Living locally I get to enjoy the deals of Brick Lane Curry Houses on a regular basis so I take advantage of it. On a thursday night i took a group of 8 friends on a night out to celebrate my promotion. I decided to go to Sheba as the doormangave us a pint beer on the house free. Ok we were seated initially in a tbale meant for 6 and there was 8 of us!! the maths didnt work out but we still squeezed ourself in. Later we ordered our food and waited around an hour for it to arrive as they were understaffed. We didnt mind waiting an hour for the food to arrive what we did mind was that the portion size was small and like what I used to feed my kid when he was a child. All 8 of us had to order more dishes to fill our appetite and my apetite is usually small!! Anyway we now knew how they managed to give us the free beer and that was at the cost of small curry portions. Ok then came the bill and our beer was added to it and we had to remind the staff that we got these for free. We also noticed an unmentioned service charge for 15%!!! how cheeky. These guys obviously know the game very well. We went away bewildered and cheated because we didnt get a fair and promised deal. The curry, however, is ok but you can get better in Brick Lane. Others in the restaurant who recieved up to 50% off the food bill were again complaining about service charges and the reduced portion sizes. This place doesnt seem as it will last long with the kind of trick its playing with customers.

I come from germany and would like to go in a good india restaurant in the near, where I am staying. I was looking around websites and I found the Sheba India Restaurant.

The restaurant looks good. I was visiting the Sheba with my friend and it was wonderful. The food was excellent. I love the chicken menus and the price is very good for the food.

The atmosphere was so good, I was feeling me how 1000 and 1 night. The service was very great.

I have never been a massive fan of Indian food. I tend to stick to Tandori chicken or a Korma because I'm not good with my spice. I have recently returned from Thailand where I really enjoyed the green curry (spicy for me!) and was told that the reason I enjoyed it was because the spices were fresh - fresh spices do not burn your mouth like powder forms do and they are slightly addictive too.

When I was dragged down Brick Lane and into Sheba I was really sceptical but pleasantly surprised. Although the dishes are obviously very different to Thai food I could tell the spices were fresh.

Anyway, the staff were really friendly and the food was great. I admit I only went for the Tikka Masala but I tasted my friends Dansak and really like it. Had I known how good it was I might have been a little more adventurous with my own order!

I will definitely be going back.

We went to the Sheba Restaurant after reading reviews online about the food and service. Well after visiting the restaurant I can say it is not how it sounds when you read about it online. Firstly the food is ok but nothing special like claimed. Second the dishes are priced 30-50% more than other restaurants at its locality, so this explained why they were able to run promotions of 50% off food at the restaurant. The only thing good was the service. Staff were friendly and smiled occasionally. There were 15 of us and all left gutted as we had been to better places in Brick Lane and this one was a disappointment in all dimensions. We were also asked to wait 20 minutes for our table although we had reserved it in 1 week in advance... really disappointing.

I been to many indian restaurants in Brick Lane and sheba ranks number one. Its got a lovely seafood selection and chefs specialities. The fried silver pompret dish with spicy masala sauce was absolutely gorgeous. The kebab starters and jerk style chicken wings were fresh and bursting with flavour. Ambiance was party like thanks to being a packed restaurant. Cost of meal was very reasonable and worth it.

Went to Sheba on Tuesday night and it was packed to the rafters.

The staff welcomed us and the owner himself came to the table as to take the order. The atmosphere was jolly and buzzing with the amount of people in the restaurant.

As I learned from the sheba website, the restaurant won a few curry awards and is going to be nominated for UK´s curry award 2009. Therefore I settled for one of the great great lamb shank curry and lovely salmon tikka a unique dish with lovely taste.

The staff have been wonderful to us they would take no time to come and take our order or give our food. When we finished eating, the owner himself came to the table in order to ask if we were satisfied or if we had any reason for complaining.

But we assured him to be more than satisfied. All of us left happy and we paid less then £8 per head. Worth the visit especially if you're in a large group!

Overall Sheba does a excellent curries and its worth a visit if you're looking for a value for money curry night out.

Hi there,

A few days ago I found this great 40% off voucher on vouchercodes.co.uk and decided to go for lunch with some co-workers to this lovely place on Bricklane. The staff welcomed us and the owner himself came to the table to take the order.

All in all I this is one of the best restaurants in Brick Lane for its food and service.

Best regards

Great food and service at this popular east end eaterie.I recommend you try the house specials such as lamb shatkora, tender pieces cooked in Bengali spices or the murgh Mumbai, a popular dish cooked with eggs, potatoes and tomatoes. There's also the very interesting duck narang, breast meat cooked in coconut cream and mild orange sauce. Sheba is the best in Brick Lane.
