Reviews for Misato Restaurant
I've been going here since my student days. You could say it saved me from malnutrition and scurvy.
The prices are low, the portion sizes are unbelievably big and the quality is good. You don't come here if you're a gourmand, you come here if you're starving and only have about a fiver in your purse.
My favourite is Ten-don - the batter isn't really crisp, I would like more prawns but the rice is like Mount Fuji and the sauce has that hit of umami, so I won't grumble. The ultimate crowd pleaser is the Katsu Curry and Rice - the cutlet is always about the size of your head.
The queues are annoyingly long, the staff aren't super friendly (but I managed to crack a smile out of one last night), but the food is satisfying and cheap.
In a very informal setting. The portions are generous and the prices are easy on the wallet. The staff aren't particularly friendly and it is *always* crowded - the tables are quite close together as well, so it is good to be considerate of your neighbors.
Still the food is definitely worth it.
Misato is more quantity than quality.
It is cheap and filling but not exciting.
The long queue outside in this case gives an indication that Japanese food in London is very expensive and this is why even people who knows what is good Japanese food needs to go to affordable places...
The closest thing to the kind of Japanese food you find under the arches of one of its railway arches. Cheap, hearty food served quickly with a minium of fuss. I concur with the queue, especially around 7pm, but it's worth it. Great bentos too.
Wow, great value food, huge portions. Well cooked with decent ingredients. Good japanese high street vibe. Packed with mainly japanese people which is a good sign. I've tried every section of their menu and its all good.
The service is fast and any queues move quickly so its a good choice if you're pressed for time as well.
The huge queue of (mainly Japanese) people waiting to eat here most evenings is a dead giveaway. The quality of restaurants can be patchy this close to Leicester Square, but Misato is a consistently reliable choice for good food at good prices. They do good sushi and noodles as well as more substantial dishes like teriyaki chicken or salmon (a particular favourite). The bento boxes are huge.
The queue moves faster than you think, making it a good quick choice when you're in this part of town.
