Roehampton Veterinary Clinic

Reviews for Roehampton Veterinary Clinic

We previously took our 3 month old puppy here for her first jabs and there was nothing out of the ordinary on that visit. But after a fall in the park we took her here for help and even though she was yelping, we were told by the vet she was just bruised, she was given an injection for £40 and we were booted out (it was near closing time).

Our puppy continued to howl right up to midnight when we decided to take her to Stoneline in Wimbledon as we were convinced it wasn't just bruising and were so worried as she was clearly in alot of pain. They x-rayed her and turned out she had fractured her joint in her front leg and bone had chipped off. We were shocked that the Roehampton vet failed to diagnose this. Stoneline said they would keep her in overnight to monitor her but were unable to perform the surgery and we would have to be referred back to our vet.

So back we went to Roehampton, having already paid out £400 for Stoneline's help, the Roehampton vet said they would perform the surgery and she would be ready by Monday (this was a saturday) and we asked how much it would be, and they said £900-1000. We asked if they offered a payment plan having already spent a lot already and he said payment was on collection and due to the outstanding debts by others there was no payment plan available.

We had no choice but to take our puppy out as we could not find £1000 in two days. The vet was not compassionate at all and what angered us the most was that he failed to diagnose the fracture in the first instance, and if he had done his job properly we would not have incurred the additional expense at Stoneline.

We ended up calling the RSPCA and took her there instead and the surgery cost just £160!

We think it's unbelievable that a veterinary practice can charge ridiculous amounts and not offer any sort of flexibility, even though the owners are willing to pay. We are put into a very stressful situation. We have heard numerous complaints about Roehampton veterinary practice before. One person whose dog was severely bitten by a pitbull was £20 short of a £95 jab to help the dog. The vet wouldnt give the treatment until the person coughed up the £20 and he had to run home to get it! The poor dog suffered over £20, it's sickening.

How can a practice, dedicated to the wellbeing of animals be allowed to do this to people? They are clearly only in business to make money and do not care whatsoever about the animals themselves, it's disgusting.

Not only did Roehampton veterinary fail to diagnose our puppy's injuries from the beginning but they also charged a fortune and showed no real compassion at all in terms of the payment issue.

I would recommend people to call the RSPCA for help/advice and try Stoneline as they were a great help, staff were friendly and sympathetic towards the situation and overall were very reliable. Roehampton Veterinary was very disappointing and we are never taking our puppy back there again.

Roehampton Veterinary treated us terribly and we would not recommend this practice to anyone if their animal needs urgent help!
