Reviews for Waitrose Food & Home
Waitrose is an excellent supermarket, cannot recommend it enough. Much like the author of the appallingly written letter of complaint below me however, I do feel it unfair that if I stand at a clearly unoccupied till they do not stop serving customers queueing at the correct tills to serve me. My custom should be valued above all others!
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to complain about some startling treatment received from one of the rudest customer service staff (CSS), I have encountered during my lifetime.
I attended your Canary Wharf store on Saturday 3/1/09. I am selected some bulbs to swap and went to pay for them at the electronics counter. One till was occupied with staff attending to a customer and one till was closed. Fair enough. I then proceeded to another till point by the candles section. I waited at one till that said "next customer", as another customer was having an item wrapped by one CSS and paying another at another till point a few yards away. I waited and I had the feeling that I was being ignored, made to feel invisible and not acknowledged. This is bearing in my I am standing at a till point with the "next customer" sign on it.
I wait patiently again and another customer walks around me and stands immediately behind the customer being served. I am ignored again and I ask if the till that I am at is open. I am advised that it is not and that the CSS was serving "my customer". I then advise her that she has seen though, not acknowledged me standing there and had allowed someone to be served before me. I pointed this out to which she replied "I am serving my customer". I was FURIOUS, as it appeared to want to war with me and actually was inadvertently saying that I was not a Waitrose customer. I had to point out that her till should say "till closed" and the any other potential customer would know to queue behind the lady she was serving. I then told her I thought she was incredibly rude and asked to see her line manager. She then advised "he's over there", basically advising me that I should go over to speak to him if I had a complaint. This lady was incredibly rude and I advised her that it was not for me to seek the manager, but for her to locate him.
I then heard her telling he section manager what had happened as opposed to just advising the manager that there was an issue. I went over and explained what had happened and told the section manager (whose name I do not get), that this staff member was incredibly rude. He apologised straight away and offered to put the matter right. He logged on to the till, exchanged my bulbs and offered me £5.00 as a good will gesture, but the damage had already been done. I saw red!
I have shopped at Canary Wharf on a weekly basis since May 2005. When I haven't been able to get there, I have used Ocado. I have always received excellent service and I am startled by the treatment I received from this lady who was not wearing her name badge. I can categorically also say that I will not be shopping at Waitrose again. I am still furious especially to be told that she was serving her customer. This lady CLEARLY lady has no idea. She was UTTERLY RUDE! I am her customer! I was her customer a 15.35 on 27/12/08, again on 2/2/09 at 19.19, again at 19.36, again at 19.49 and again on 3/1/09 at 15.06, when this sorry incident occurred and these are just of the receipts I have retained. It appeared to me that this individual didn't want to or know how to do her job.
For the record, there is an economic crisis gripping this country, of which we are all aware. If she does not what her job, there are plenty of people losing theirs in Canary Wharf, that would surely appreciate having one. If Waitrose chooses to recruit and retain staff like this, then I will exercise my economic freewill and chose to shop elsewhere and explain that to family and friends when there ask why I am no longer shopping at Waitrose.
I deal with at least 40-50 residents on a daily basis, both in person and on the telephone. Being in social housing, this is often in very stressful and dire situations. Through training, development, team briefings I advise my staff of how to treat a customer. The client/customer is first, as without them there is no business. I am not one to complain, do not have time to sit and write lengthy emails, but this experience has left such a bitter taste in my mouth and it is something that I feel requires your immediate and urgent attention.
I hope that this satisfactorily clarifies my position in relation to the above and look forward to your earliest written response.
Kindest regards,
The waitrose food and home store situated at canary wharf is a great food superstore which caters to almost every food whim you may have. If you want sushi, you can have it, if you want fresh bakery products its all there waiting for you, in fact having been in to get some thing I fancy, I often come out with some thing completely different but equally lovely. I have always found that the friendly staff are helpful and if I have been unsure where to find a product they have been helpful in locating it for me. The ready to take away and eat food selections are varied and presented well. It is a luxury store in many ways but so worth just a little bit extra.
As a supermarket, you really can't beat waitrose for its quality or selection of fine foods. The service you get is also one of the best. Its not suprising, its part of the John lewis group so you get all the service of the upper class company. Their ready to eat food is where this particular waitrose holds their own. Everything you could want is catered for, the tastes are absolutely delicious, i can't fault them at all. Such a choice as well, it really isn't expected! Prices are obviously going to be more expensive, but you are paying for quality food here!
Waitrose already has a reputation for having superb quality produce. This branch tops it all. They have little sections which cater to the lunch time crowd, including a Japanese sushi corner, bakery, soup corner, carvery etc. The food served is always fresh and done just right. It gets pretty busy during lunch as it is just so so popular. It is not cheap, but I suppose it does reflect the quality of the food and the care that has gone into its preparation. They obviously still have the "normal" supermarket section with its usual high quality product but what stands this branch out is its ready to eat sections as mentioned above.
you cant beat waitrose quality although they are expensive,
there food just tastes and looks divine.
not only that but wairoses customer service cant be beat.
They go thge extra mile to help you and will help you find any item.
this store is idealy located to just pop in and pick things up ,
and the the amount of choice is amazing ,where this store stands out is that it also has homewhere so you can kill 2 birds with one stone (a womans delight)
This store in paticular is very clean and simple to walk around it is also very easy to find what you want.
accesibility is good with numorous public transport points nearby, and plenty of parking.
The crowning jewel in Canary Wharf's great shopping centre has to be the Waitrose Food & Home store. Conveniently situated at Canary Wharf, it is certainly big enough to choose great ingredients for dinner and also admire the John Lewis homeware goods. Every time I stop off at Canary Wharf to go to the equally tempting Accessorize, I waver and go in to pick up something! I should know better but the aisles are full of mesmerising goods that it becomes so easy to collect a basket full of goods without thinking.
Of course this is by far an extravagant way of doing your supermarket shopping but it feels like such a treat!
Short review: This is Waitrose, whats not to love.
