Reviews for Gerry's Off Licence

I come here to ogle the bottles, this place is pornographic in the way that classy Hardware shops are with its own Bacchanalian zinger twist. One gawp at the window display and you know your heading into somewhere special with a sense of boozy humour to boot. There are a screed of brands of Absinthe in window, likewise with any other tipple you can think of. A great place for last minute presents or to sample natures bounty and mans inventiveness when it comes to creating new ways to get sizzled in an epicurean way.

Absolutely brilliant review ! Best giggle for ages. Do I detect a rising star in the world of written comedy ? Move over Victoria Wood !

Gerry's is a bit of a specialist shop when it comes to booze.
They seem to obtain stock of some of the weirdest and rarest spirits, including lots of different vodkas and gins.
What is perhaps less well-known is the fact that they stock an excellent selection of rare, high quality wines. They certainly stocked some pretty rare wines such as Ch Musar and a decent range of Clarets. They also have some nice Burgundies from boutique growers that are worth buying.
On the whole, Gerry's aim at the specialist end of the drinks market, rather than the top quality end.
Just a note when leaving the shop with your precious bottles: be very careful on the slippery pavements (stained with the filth and grease of the 100s of nearby restaurants) as many a treasured bottle has smashed onto the street instead of being drunk. Don't say we didn't warn you.

This shop, located on Old Compton Street, has ever single drink you could possibly think of! I went in there looking for mead (that popular medieval beverage) of all things, having failed to get it everywhere else I had tried, and not only did they have it, but they even had different varieties, which I found very impressive. On the more conventional drinks front, they have got a vast selection of wines, vodkas, whiskeys, spirits, gins, rums, tequilas, brandys, you name it and they have probably got it! For specialist drinks and a fantastic selection, Gerry’s wines and spirits is the place in London to go.

Friendly off license place run by a Greek I believe. Seems to know a lot about the area.

WOW!! Gerry's don't sell tobacco, but every single drink you could wish for and some you wouldn't!!! They now even take credit cards!! So be careful!!

Jerry's got it. This must be one of London best tobacconist, drinks shops. It's not a chain, just an independent shop on Old Compton Street run by a family. The selection of booze is immense providing options even for the most discerning drinker. Absinth, vodka, tequila, wine…everything. More focused on spirits rather than wine though. The owner is also very friendly. We walked in asking for a specific drinks magazine, which he didn't have, but he called a lady that did have who then proceeded to walk down to the shop to talk to us with her husband. Both of them work in the leisure/events industry so we may even have a biz dev opportunity with them. Karma business is what I like to call it.

The place is adorned with some ‘interesting' (read bizarre) pictures, but that adds to the quirkiness. I particularly like the sign ‘Free parking for Greeks' ;-)

Tobacconist? Pictures? Are we talking about the same place? All I recall is wall-to-wall booze.

Ah see thamshere, it's all about the detail ;-)
Very easy stuff to miss though as 99% of the shop is about booze.
