a great place to shop especially if you are on a budget. even if you aren't on a budget as such, why spend money unnecessarily? the food is generally of a very high quality which is probably surprising. the fruit and vegetables are very fresh usually and there is a good selection of fruit which may be hard to find in other shops. the prices of what could normally be expensive foods like grapes etc. are considerably lower also. the shops generally have great parking facilities and the staff are extremely efficient. the only thing I don't like really is the amount of factory farmed chicken/pork they stock and also the amount of battery eggs (sometimes more battery eggs than free range eggs!) also, some of the pet food is what is to be considered quite low quality.

Aldi have increased sales by something like 25% over the past year because of the credit crunch. The one problem it seemed to have in the past was that many of the items they sold for the weekly shopping were not known brands that you would normally see in Tescos or Sainsburys. Also since the prices were very much cheaper, people assumed a lower quality product. Hence many people stayed clear.

However, if you give the items a try you’ll often find that there is no difference in quality or taste. Fresh fruit and veg seems to be particularly good value here and it is always worth checking out the special offers on items such as tools etc that they often sell in between the aisles.

Note that many of these special offers may be time limited, so if you see it, buy it quick before it goes.
