Excellent value lunch on the move
Subway are consistent in quality and value, and are still (at the time of writing this review, September 2008) doing a ‘sub of the day’ for only £1.99. For those who haven’t tried Subway yet, the name refers to the submarine roll in which the sandwiches are made. These are available in a 12” or 6” version, and you have to be very hungry to eat the 12”! The sandwich is made in front of you, to your order, and there are about 20 standard varieties available.
One real benefit of subs in the good range of salad which it is possible to include in each one. Ask for ‘everything, please’ and you will get a good range of vegetables which will contribute well to your 5 a day (warning: asking for ‘everything’ is likely to include delicious gherkins and rather hot jalapeno peppers!) The sandwich is started with cheese (which is very mildly flavoured and can be omitted), your chosen filling is added and then the salad added to this. Finally the staff member will ask you for your choice of dressing. I always feel that I have eaten a salad!
Coffee, soft drinks, muffins and cookies are also available.
