With increasingly long queues snaking around this meat lover’s paradise in East Dulwich, it was only a matter of time before they opened another outpost. So William Rose’s new flagship store on East Dulwich Grove is good news for field and feather fans who will surely flock to this fantastic local store.

Only 16 butchers in London hold a QSM (Quality Standard Meat rating) and William Rose is one of them. It’s easy to see why.

It stocks the renowned Scotch Premier brand, which has earned international acclaim for its naturally reared, high quality beef, lamb, pork and venison.

The staff make a delicious variety of sausages on site, as well as creating a mix of mouth-watering marinades for plump birds and lean lambs alike.

Quality of produce assured, it’s the personal service that really makes this place stand out. We recently asked for a roasting joint of beef for a special family reunion. A debate raged among three members of staff before settling on the best piece, and we were even offered a remarkable offer of our money back if we didn’t enjoy it. The refreshing level of concern for customer satisfaction in the food business is elsewhere becoming rarer than a blue steak. Naturally, the beef made the best home-made roast our clan had ever sampled.

You can also rely on sage advice for your purchases. Whether it’s straightforward cooking times and methods, or more creative recipe ideas, ask and you will undoubtedly receive.

I recently was looking for some squab for a recipe (they didn’t have that day but offered to order in) and gladly settled on partridge instead. William Rose gamely offered a range of inspiring recipe ideas. The upshot was that I left the store buzzing with ideas and keen to go back in for more.
