Reviews for BFI London Imax Cinema

I went to see the dark knight here and it was immense. A perfect screen for it. Even though we were sat on the front row (and hence were pretty much IN gotham) it was still a spectacular experience

I was there on Monday too. I'd say the screen's not particularly high quality and the sound *could* be better, but the size of the screen more than makes up for it. If you can hold out for center row tickets, it is more than worth it! The only comparable cinema experiences I've had are at the Empire and Odeon on Leicester square, but the size of the audience and distance from the screen there is enough to make IMAX the best.

I'm just about to go and book tix to see it next month as well :)

The BFI London IMAX Cinema is housed in huge circular building which is glass on the exterior. It is in the centre of a busy traffic roundabout at the end of Waterloo Bridge. The IMAX Cinema says that it has the largest screen in the UK, well go see it for yourself, it will not matter even if you have left your glasses behind because the screen is a whooper. Yes folks this screen is the height of 5, yes thats 5 double decker buses, 20 by 26 metres in total. It really has to be seen to be believed.
You will never want to view on a small screen again. The fantastic digital surround sound system makes it even better, no good having a huge screen and rubbish sound quality. A must see that you will not forget.

The IMAX is simply huge the biggest screen in London. The IMAX shows films in 3d as well as standard films but either way it is the ultimate in the cinema experience. The IMAX is currently showing the Dark Knight which is well worth a look at. The IMAX in London is run by the BFI (British Film Institute ) a charitable organisation that celebrates film. The IMAX achieves great quality by have film over twice the size of standard film and extremely powerful speakers. Tickets are more expensive than normal but well worth the extra cost from the added experience.

Actually tickets for the IMAX are about the same as a West End cinema (the Leicester Square Vue for example is also £12 a ticket) so it's a relative bargain for the extra experience you get at IMAX.

The IMAX Cinema which has the largest screen in the whole of the United Kingdom is located just a few minutes walk away from London's Waterloo Station. Exit the station and take a left under the bypass, when you emerge out of the tunnel just look up and you will see a mega cinemaplex. It's the IMAX Experience about to take place! I saw the HULK there, it was Amazing. I suggest you check it out even if you are not in the area. They do over night showings of trilogies, old classics such as The Matrix 1, 2 and 3 all in one night's dose. The tickets are reasonable for an all nigher costing around £23 - you should book online to avoid disapointment as they sell out quick due to public demand.

London’s Imax cinema is situated right next to Waterloo station, and is a fantastic cinema. The ridiculously large screen never fails to amaze, and because of this the experience is completely worth the extra money compared to a normal cinema. Do try to get seats either in the middle or towards the back of the cinema, as the ones at the front and at the sides leave you craning your neck and never quite able to see the whole screen. But with good seats it’s an unbeatable experience. Seeing The Dark Knight there is well worth it if you can make it!

hello this place completely rocks, i have been to an imax theatre before and i must say only one thing that if u really wanna enjoy the experience make sure u dont get the seats in the middle jus get as high as possible and make sure u dont get too wide either, just ensure that you are somewhere in the middle to enjoy your movie, best part is to get a movie to enjoy in 3 d and if any of those documentaries on space or the moon is runnin u cud go for them too as the feelin wud be tottally specatucular. Super hero and action movies are major attractions for watchin movies in the imax and from what i hear is that the recent movie batman had some special cut scenes shot in imax that wud be a tremendous movie to watch especially in imax.

I imagine even if you went to see an episode of Cash In The Attic in 75mm format it would be an experience to remember, but my visit last Saturday to see The Dark Knight was verging on life-changing. Quite simply, no other cinema is going to match up to the sheer immersive quality of the IMAX screen, and you should make every effort you can to see whichever 'real' films they show. By 'real' films I do not of course mean those stupid vomit-inducing rollercoaster simulations or 'under the sea' faux-documentaries. I believe the next big IMAX movie is to be the next Harry Potter. Consider me first in the queue.
