Reviews for Disney's The Lion King at The Lyceum Theatre

The Lyceum theatre is set in a busy area of theatre land and easy to reach by train or bus. Places to eat near by also.
The lion king has been running at this theatre for a few years now and I saw it with a school trip. The children had been studying the lion king and the african animals portrayed in the show so they were really looking forwards to seeing it.
They had a great time and enjoyed it very much. Lots of happy faces.
The costumes are very clever and the stage has different sets that add to the feel of the show. The bit where they hold up the baby lion on top of the giant rock had them all excited. What a great family show.

Disney's Lion King - the theatrical musical journey of Simba the Lion and his clan through the plains of Serengeti - a real life wildlife park in Tanzania - is breath taking to say the least. The sets, the characters, the costumes, the singing, the music - it is simply amazing. The Lyceum Theatre has got this show on. If you are in London, and looking for some theatre to go to - do not miss this. While the good seats tend to be expensive, you may get lucky and get a good last minute deal, on the day, from "tkts" booths outside some of the train stations in London.

Me and my partner went to this in February this year and it was amazing!! I had waited to see it for a while and im so glad i finally went! The theatre is is very cramped but it shouldn't put you off as when the show starts you forget about it! All of the cast were brilliant, esp the young kids that played simba and nala and timon and pumbaa were brilliantly funny! The is comical, emotional and a must see for anyone. I will say that my partner didn't enjoy it as much as me because he did keep comparing it to the Disney version, which i can understand because at first it is a little hard to imagine them as animals when they aren't lol!! But you have to see this it is phenomenal!!!

The lion king which we saw at the lyceum theatre was a delight from start to finish. The moment the show began the cast members dressed as their characters began to file through the theatre, parading past our seats in the stalls. You really do have to get used to the idea that you need to see the character not the human form in side the costume, but once you do that you really begin to enjoy the story. The songs are well known and that makes it easier for you to get into the mood of the show. Kids will love it and it is very cleverly done. The usual lack of leg room and hard seats should get a small mention, but they did not spoil our enjoyment.

First of all I've got to say, I was looking forward to seeing this production for about 2 years so was always going to be a little disappointed!

I finally went to see The Lion King after moving to London late last year and went the week before Christmas. I think it was built up to such an amazing event after all the reviews I had heard that I came out very disappointed :( The man playing Wazoo (the bird?) was really funny and the young Simba was very talented but I just found myself unimpressed and comparing it to Wicked and Les Miserables all the way through which I found 100 times better.

All in all, a talented cast and great scenes but I couldn't give it more than 3/5
