Reviews for Shepherds Bush Empire
I simply love the shepherds bush empire. Not only is it local to me, it also the best place to see your musical crush. No seriously! If you ever want to see a musical act that you fancy this is the place to see them. It’s small enough you feel like they are singing to you personally (not the other 1999 people in the venue). The down side is if the act on stage does not come prepared to rock the house you’ll be heading straight home to take the posters down.
Other than stalker appeal this, the empire always has a great line-up of up and coming acts.
We went to see Bon Jovi perform at Shepherds Bush Empire a few years back.
It has a very small capacity compared to their normal huge stadium concerts so the tickets were sold out practically straight away and it was amazing to be so fortunate.
The queue starts around the building hours beforehand and then once inside it is very steep towards the top at the back where we were and felt rather dizzy if you're not a fan of heights! It was not a very comfy experience as a viewer but the music made up for it. For those downstairs it must have been amazing.
This is one of the best places in london to see your favourite upcomming bands, but also to see huge stars perform very intimate concerts. i recently saw buddy guy here and it was amazing. the venue is big enough for a large crowd to get the muscians going, but also small enough to allow for things ( such as comming out into the crowd) which wouldnt be possible at large venues like the albert hall.
there is a clockroomm service, but i believe you have to pay, so try and only bring the stuff you will wear throughout the concert.
there is an underground just outside, and this is the best way to visit as parking is non-existant in the area.
Just a great place for music-lovers; here's where you catch the next best thing just when they are well-reviewed enough to fill this 2000-person venue (and you can get really close up) - but not so famous yet that they can play less intimate venues...if you were lucky enough to see Sigur Ros there in 2001, you'll know what I'm saying
